The East African Crude Oil Pipeline built by TotalEnergies will transport oil from Uganda 🇺🇬 to Tanzania 🇹🇿. It will unlock East Africa’s economic potential and increase foreign investment.

Of course, EACOP cannot avoid its course through these ecosystems, nor can we reduce its impact. And so, RéHabitat will save animals from it by moving them out of the way, to a safer place, in France 🇫🇷 #TotallySafe

RéHabitat employs former farmers 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾—also local to regions impacted by pipeline corridor construction—to manage sanitation and transitional habitat quality.

Beginning with three habitats, we will install a “Keystone Species” in each. A keystone species is a species that holds the integrity of an ecosystem together 🦁

We hypothesize that introducing tropical species to strategic French ecologies can provide the backbone of a functional tropical ecosystem in France, and through hybridization, improve the capacity for native species to adapt to a warming climate.

👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 #RéHabitat partners with ecological experts to find safe and sustainable French habitats for East African wildlife living adjacent to the East African Crude Oil Pipeline construction zone.

We identify “sister habitats” with comparable ecologies to areas such as the Murchison Falls Delta Wetland system and Bugoma Forest in Uganda, and the Biharamulo Reserve and the Wembere Steppe in Tanzania.

🦁 Lions of the Biharamulo Reserve will find familiar comfort in the valleys of Rhône. 🐘 Elephants of the Wembere Steppe will find improvement in the hillsides of Lac du Bourget, same for 🐒 chimpanzees of the Bugoma Forest will live by the shores of Lac de Sainte-Croix !

🌞🍃#RéHabitat is a wind and sun-powered cargo vessel refitted to transport a diversity of species safely, comfortably, and reliably.

At 200 meters long and 40 meters wide, the boat sports retractable “sails” composed of composite material, and rigged to rotate and catch the wind for optimum efficiency.
