God prophesies we will see His enemies made subject to Him:

“Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’” All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.
(Is. 45:23-24)

Every unbeliever is God’s enemy until he repents. Some will never repent. But they will be subject to Christ. By their own confession they will outwardly subject themselves.

This is what scripture means when it says that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father waiting for His enemies to be made subject to Him.

“But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool.”
Hebrews 10:12-13

Verse 14 then goes on to explain the logic of why Jesus can now wait instead of feeling the need to come down to earth and “do it Himself”…

“For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”
Hebrews 10:14

In other words, something about Jesus’ sacrifice and what it will do in His people allows Him now to sit and wait….

“All authority in heaven and on earth….”

The church today is just beginning to wake up to the fullness of that authority and the fullness of our calling.

Jesus has done His work to bring justice and peace to the nations by His work on the cross. “The old is passed away and gone. The new is come.” The work is done. Now His victory plays out and His His enemies will be made subject to Him. This is the New Covenant.
