Ohio Redistricting Commission hearing in Warrensville Heights has begun. Democrats expected to offer an amendment to the maps. You can follow along here. ohiochannel.org/live/special-e…
Democrats are offering their proposed amendments, which would give them 42 House and 13 Senate seats.
Here's what was uploaded to Dave's Redistricting:

Senate: davesredistricting.org/maps#viewmap::…
Under the proposed Democrat map, Forest Park would be in the 29th district but keep it with Springdale, Mount Healthy and North College Hill.

There would be one GOP House district in western Hamilton County, likely pitting Rep. Abrams v. Rep. Seitz. Don't see GOP liking that.
A lot of testimony yesterday about Trotwood. The Democrats' map would keep it with Jefferson Twp., Kettering and Oakwood.
Chris Glassman, mapmaking consultant for Senate Democrats, says @OhFairDistricts contest winner Geoff Wise splits too many cities in his map.
@OhFairDistricts Glassman says 20 House districts would be between 45% and 55% partisan leaning (competitive districts).
Democrats offered map amendments but they weren't accepted immediately. Not sure if there has to be an up or down vote.
*It's Chris Glassburn -- again with needing that edit button.
Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell says he's not happy with the way Ward 9 is split from neighboring communities. @tupchurch216 says wards 8, 9 and 10 have historically been kept together.
If you're coming to these commission meetings, I'd suggest bringing specific suggestions because @KeithFaber just asked Rev. Anthony Small to mark up a map for East Cleveland.
@KeithFaber "Draw fair maps and let the chips fall where they may," Maureen Welch says in written comments delivered by Sue Van Dyke.
Tessa Xuan talking about House Bill 6 scandal and how xenophobic ads made the state less safe for people who look like her.

Xuan says AsiaTown is divided in GOP-proposed maps, diluting the influence of AAPI Ohioans.
.@Juanita_Brent had a list of details about how Cuyahoga County was divided in illogical ways. Downtown Cleveland is divided into two districts. Cleveland Clinic area is also divided.
Kelly Goshe, who says she's a registered Republican, says "the extremism is killing us." She expresses frustration with splitting Solon and Orange City School District.
James Trutko, of Rocky River, says Democrats blame legislative district lines for their failure to win elections. Gerrymandering is in the eye of the beholder, he says.
Janice Simmons-Mortimor says Crestwood Local School District in Portage County is divided between two House districts. She would prefer to keep it together but is willing to be divided so other communities can be kept united.
Sue Dyke reminds the commission that congressional maps are due in 17 days.
"I know it's hard to work on two things at once."

Earlier story on the process for both legislative and congressional maps:

She also offers snacks and trail mix to the commission members.

As a person who has attended many long committee hearings, it's always a solid plan to bring snacks and water.
Kristi Hadgigeorge says she bought a house nine months ago but now wishes she could leave because the maps are embarassing. “I feel stuck here.”
We've reached the Democrats will lead to a "kingdom of evil" portion of the public comment section.
.@stephaniehowse says the current House District 11 has the largest concentration of Black Ohioans.
"How is it that the highest concentration of African Americans has been literally obliterated in this map?"

"It's going to be very problematic," Howse says of GOP map.
Former state Rep. John Patterson (likely the last speaker?) starts with "I wasn't planning to speak."
He says Ohio needs statesmen and stateswomen to tackle the state's largest problems.
"We need all the talent we can muster to face these problems."
Ohio Redistricting Commission is adjourned after 6+ hours of testimony. Next meeting is tomorrow @ 10 a.m. at the Ohio Statehouse House Finance Hearing Room (Room 313).

Mark Erhardt says he wanted Republicans and Democrats to work together on a map before the commission voted to accept one. He also wants commission members to look at citizens' maps.
