Whoa! Huge surprise in Iowa's legislative special. 75% of the vote reported (including absentees, I believe), and Andrea Phillips (D) has a 300-vote lead. She got apparently got massive election day support today relative to her 2020 E-Day numbers.
I don't know which precincts haven't yet been counted, so this still could be a relatively easy gap for Bousselot (R) to overcome. Or it could be very difficult. But it's a lot closer than I ever expected it to be after 8,700 votes were counted.
The next precinct came in, and Bousselot (R) now has a 57-vote lead.

Just based on total turnout numbers, there should be about 1,500 votes left to count, maybe a bit less. As E-Day trends have gone, Bousselot (R) is likely okay (depending on which precincts these are), but it's far closer than anyone expected at this point.
All precincts now reported. Bousselot (R) defeated Phillips (D) by about 3.3%. That's about a 3% swing towards Phillips from the 2020 general election results.
Phillips received 33% of the Election Day vote in 2020. Today, she bumped that up to 38%.
Phillips received 62% of mail-in votes in 2020. This year, she received about 75% of mail-in votes.
