Since a lot of people are arguing with me and saying the school board IS the place to go, let's play this out using what we know about REALITY (not some fantasy world of what SHOULD happen):
You go to the board, enough of them agree with you they put pressure on the super. 1/

Superintendent disagrees with them, and you, OR says he/she didn't know/but will talk to principals b/c he's afraid to get fired now that he knows.
He goes to principals, they say they didn't know, but same story, he/she will look into it.
This process can take weeks-months.2/

In the meantime, your kid is still in class, you the parents are by name on their radar (as are your kids), and the union mobilizes to pressure admin. and defend teachers. They craft a defense. 3/

Principal comes back and says they've spoken to teacher, but teacher says materials are in line with state standards, and pedagogically sound per "latest research" etc. Parents foam at mouth, PR says "Parents are bigots/paranoid/right-wing, reactionary."4/

Principal says "Sorry you feel that way, but I don't dictate curriculum." You go back to super, complain some more, super feels safer now, has defense in hand, even school board that agrees with you can't help b/c firing him/her is without cause, BIG payout coming. 5/

You also have to remember this case is being made around you to other parents, who may disagree with you OR hate you more than they fear the ideas being taught. They pressure school board the other way, and threaten them if legal costs go sky high to fire super they agree with 6/

Even if they are a minority, if the MEDIA agrees with them, you now have the media AND the establishment against you, or rather defending them. So now if you go up the food chain to the BoE, the dead last thing they want is to take this on, unless they have spines of steel.7/

Here we need to take a lesson from the left. How do they get things done/get rid of things they don't like? They make life hard for individuals -- legally -- and that's what you need to do. Teachers who got fired? Exposed personally. Same with principals and supers. /8

So my point is, you can "raise awareness," just recognize your alerting your enemies as well as your friends. The left wins b/c they hit you out of left field, you don't see them coming, and they hit at weak spots: individuals./END
