Major plans to regenerate Shrewsbury town centre were due to be unveiled to the public today but Shropshire Council's decided to discuss them in secret.
The local authority plans to demolish The Pride Hill - one of the 3 Shrewsbury shopping centres it bought 3 years ago.
The Pride Hill had been earmaked as the new civic centre - where Shropshire Council staff would be housed. The new plan would stop that. Instead it'll be demolished and a multi storey car park and hotel built in its place.
The Riverside will also go and become the civic HQ.
The raven meadows car park will make way for a restaurant, I was told.
The paper will be discussed next week behind closed doors. The media were due to be briefed and able to report in full but that was pulled hours before.
I believe around £1.2m will need to be spent on a feasibility study again. Is this more money ? Will the land be sold to developers? Will the council keep the assets and own car parks and hotels? Will they get rent? How does this impact on NWRR ? Pedestrianisation in Shrews?
Questions that need answering but @ShropCouncil withdrew that opportunity for journalists. Cllrs were willing to speak. More after 8 on @BBCShropshire

Shropshire Council's confirmed it's changed its plans to regenerate Shrewsbury town centre. Pride Hill will no longer become the authority's main HQ after surveys showed it wouldn't provide value for money. Staff will likely be re-housed in a purpose built centre on Riverside.
Money will now be spent on a feasibility study to look at the changes they want to make. Statement from @ShropCouncil A report detailing the next stage in the repurposing and redevelopment of the former Pride Hill Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury will be discussed
at a meeting of Shropshire Council next week.
The report relates to how the Council will take forward the development opportunity offered by the sites that form significant elements of Shrewsbury's Big Town Plan ambitions.
