I was today years old when I found out that there is an absolute BUTTLOAD of official Minecraft DLC.

In my defense, I haven't touched a console since Dreamcast, and that seems to be where it all is.

I haven't played Minecraft in a bit either, but when I did, it was pretty heavily modded. Like, "Wearing a Gundam suit while I interdimensionally searched for skywhales in-between ranching heritage hog breeds to fill my farm box orders from other ppl on the server" modded.
I remember some folks were seriously concerned Microsoft would try to gate off modding/monopolize it right after they purchased Mojang, but judging from the sheer quantity of "100 Days in a ZOMBIE INFESTED Jurassic Park!" vids on YouTube, looks like those fears were unfounded.
BTW, if you're ever in search of a nice, long vid to play in the background while you work, something where you don't have to look at the screen much? Forge Labs regularly uploads fun, heavily-modded "100 Days"vids. I like this one.
Suev is pretty cool, too. Here's a 100 Days vid he did for the "Better Minecraft" modpack. It also features dragon-riding, like the official "How to Train Your Dragon" DLC, but as a cool adventuring reward instead of a branding event.

OMG.

Tether.

Let's talk about Tether, can we talk about Tether, PLZ Mac, I've been DYIN' to talk about Tether with all you ALL DAY Image
Y'all, I get if no one else is following this with foam flecks at the corners of their lips and eyes bulging like I am, but:

C*ypto has been in a slow motion car wreck for years. The rugpull to end all rugpulls is coming.

This entire mess is about to dwarf the Madoff scandal.
The short version: A prominent c*yptoc*rrency used to convert fiat in and out of the marketplace, originally sold on being stable (exchanging 1 coin for one USD), is showing signs of... making shit up. Going full money printer.

Reading an interesting book that theorizes the Old Testament has a mistranslation (and maybe not accidentally), and Eve was not made from Adam's rib, but his baculum.

The baculum is the penis bone; nearly all placental mammals, including other Great Apes, have 'em. Humans don't. Image
The herding cultures responsible for the stories that would eventually become the Old Testament would have definitely noticed all the animals they dealt with had this bone, and they didn't. They would have also noticed men were born with a scar that women weren't.
(Nearly) everyone is "born" with one scar: the belly button. But AMAB people also have the perineal raphe, a leftover of the urethra being closed in, which is far more distinguishable on infants.

Paintings of women who look extremely-not-thrilled about getting married: A thread
The Hesitant Fiancee, Auguste Toulmouche. A woman is congratulated on her big day by friends, as a younger girl, possibly a relation, tries on her tiara in the background, picturing her own future wedding.
The Reluctant Bride, John George Brown. The "This is fine" of bride paintings.

For folks into that sort of thing, DKUTV on Twitch is having a golden-oldie Miyazaki weekend. Now on deck: "Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind" (NOT "Warriors of the Wind," the real deal).

The evening as it stands. Some real OG shit, plus newer stuff.
Pom Poko is playing, now.

I really dig this one, but it's pretty clear why it took ten years to make it to a subbed DVD release.

It's got a lot of... I believe the Pokemon folks call it "Cultural Odor."

The border wall is and always has been meaningless and performative, so its efficacy was always gonna be shit. Half the shit coming across the border is in underground tunnels.
Deetz and receipts: bbc.com/news/world-us-…
Migrants with money to spare pay to use stuff like this, and those try to cross through the desert, where they sometimes die. Which is literal policy, not an oversight, made with the intention of being a deterrent. it hasn't been.

Details.

Oh, god. I'm gonna talk about this one, too.

This is a depiction of a kabuki actor, dressed to play a female part in an ancient drama originally performed in the classier, more-acceptable noh theater.

Kabuki was INCREDIBLY popular. Dangerously so, in the government's opinion.
Kabuki was originally started by all-women touring groups, and the stan culture surrounding them was frantic. The fact a lot of these women were also sex workers on the side, & that fans paupered themselves paying for sex, was what got female actors literally banned in the 1620s.
With women banned from the stage, their parts in kabuki were then played by... wakashu. Who I tweeted about earlier.

Who were already considered the embodiment of INCALCULABLY HUGE sex appeal by EVERYONE, at the time.

WOW, who could have foresaw, THIS DID NOT FIX ANYTHING.
