Here’s a straightforward guide to setting up & launching a #Facebookads campaign

To keep this simple, most settings will keep default selections

Before launching, you will need:
Business manager account
Ad Account
Page
Pixel & events on site
Verified domain

// Thread //
Step 1 | Getting to Facebook Ads Manager

Go to your business manager account: business.facebook.com

Select a business

Select an ad account

This will take you to the ads manager
Step 2 | Creating a campaign

Click the green + Create button (usually top left corner)

Choose a campaign objective
99% of the time I use Conversion or Catalog campaigns

For this example, choose Conversion
Step 3.1 | Naming your Campaign

Campaign: Includes the campaign objective and budget optimization.

Name - Date - Geo - Campaign objective - Reason for campaign - Part of funnel

Example:
Squadi - Date - US - Conversion - Launch - COLD
Step 3.2 | Naming your Ad Set

Ad Set: Determines your audience, placements, schedule and spending.

Geo - Age - Audience Type - Audience Name - Part of funnel

Example:
US - All - Lookalike - 1% purchasers (60 days) - COLD
Step 3.3 | Naming your Ad

Ad: Contains all ad creative settings.

Initial - Date - Ad type + variation (variation name) dimension [width:length] - funnel

Squadi - Date - IMG ad 1v1 (green launch) 1:1 - COLD

Click Continue
Step 4 | Campaign Settings

At the bottom of the campaign settings page, turn on Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO)

This will distribute budget to all ad sets based on performance

Leave CBO off if you want Ad Set Budget Optimization (ABO)

Set a daily budget

Click Next
Step 5.1 | Ad Set Settings

Choose conversion event
Use purchase to generate more purchases, Lead to generate more leads, etc.

Include and exclude audiences

Example:
Included = Cryptocurrency (interest)
Excluded = Purchasers + Visitors 180 days

Customize targeting as needed
Step 5.2 | Ad Set Settings

In the placements section, leave on automatic placements for now

After you launch and gather data on each placement, refine as needed.

Keep attribution settings as-is for now

Click Next
Step 6.1 | Ad Settings

Under the identity section, add your page(s)

Choose an ad format

Add media
I like to add three sizes, 1x1/9x16/16x9 (square/tall/wide) to show up in all ad placements

Add copy

Add a call to action (CTA)

Add a destination (typically a website URL)
Step 6.2 | Ad Settings

Under tracking, add domain & offline events

Add URL parameters to track performance when looking in analytics

My Example:
Source = facebook
Medium = {{campaign.name}}
Name = {{adset.name}}
Content = {{ad.name}}
Step 7 | Quality Assurance Check

Lastly, double-check everything

Common mistakes:

- Spelling (bots will flag as low quality)
- Wrong/no pixel
- Wrong FB/IG page used

After confirming everything looks good click publish and launch your campaign!
Step 8 | Review Phase & Going LIVE

After publishing everything will go into a review phase

If something doesn’t get approved, read the error & make fixes

Reach out to support if you still see an error

Be nice to the FB reps & they will hook you up
