Police surround masked man reportedly armed with a firearm.
He tells them where the gun is, and they pull out his badge.
He's undercover law enforcement.
Without disarming or handcuffing him, police extract him from the event.
"Are you undercover?" the officers asked the masked man, who gave them a badge.
I guess not anymore.
The masked man claimed “I’m just here” when asked if he’s undercover as he presented a badge to justify the gun he was apparently wearing, before being pulled out.
Other than undercover, he could have hypothetically been simply masked & off duty with his badge and gun concealed.
My full, uncut footage of an apparent masked and non-uniformed law enforcement officer displaying his badge and being extracted after getting confronted for carrying a concealed firearm at the "Justice for J6" defendants rally today.
FYI, I deleted and now posted an edited version of this tweet.
Originally, I wrote "uniformed" when I obviously meant "non-uniformed."
The USCP made a statement about the armed man who presented a badge and was removed from the event without being disarmed or handcuffed on scene.
They say “it is not clear why the man was at the demonstration” and that they charged him for the gun.
They don’t mention his badge.
Questions remain about the situation that occurred yesterday outside the Capitol with respect to an apparently armed, masked person who was escorted out of the event without being disarmed or handcuffed after presenting a badge.
I've sent these questions to the USCP.
BIG UPDATE: The individual arrested at Saturday's rally at the Capitol was a federal agent, and he will not be prosecuted.
U.S. attorney says they're "'not moving forward with charges' but did not provide additional information about the decision."
VIDEO THREAD: Border Patrol agents were followed by activists through the suburbs of Chicago on Friday as they continued their "Operation Midway Blitz" deportation effort.
Tensions escalated in Park City to the point of an agent pointing a weapon into the car of a protester with children in the back, although he abstained from firing.
2) In the town of Skokie, one landscaping worker was taken to the ground and arrested by Border Patrol in the Sokie neighborhood.
He was taken away in an unmarked vehicle with a “Chinga la migra” sticker on the front.
3) "If I see you without your unit, I'm gonna beat the f** out of you, motherf***er" a protester yelled out from a vehicle at Border Control Commander Greg Bovino.
"Who said that?" asked Bovino, handling his bodycam apparently to ensure the capture of the scene.
(quote confirmed with another journalist who caught the sound better)
DHS, using a violent felon as an informant who they say "may be assisting law enforcement in the hopes of future payment" has charged alleged Latin Kings member Juan Martinez with soliciting the murder-for-hire of a law enforcement official in "Operation Midway Blitz."
2) According to the feds, Martinez, going by the name "monkey****" wrote on Snapchat “2k on info cuando lo agarren,” or “$2,000 on information when you get him" and "10k if u take him down."
3) While the complaint calls the alleged victim "a senior law enforcement member of the Border Patrol Operation Midway Blitz," Chicago Tribune says a source identified the alleged target as Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino.
VIDEO THREAD: Protesters briefly blocked traffic nearby the Broadview ICE facility Saturday night, but Illinois State troopers arrived, promptly shouting at them "OUT OF THE ROAD NOW!" and forming a police.
"Move back!" the troopers yelled as they used batons to push the crowd.
2) “Get back!” Yelled Illinois Troopers as they continued to push the crowd after they got off the road.
“You could have killed her” a protester yelled after another toppled over. “She hit her head!”
“Unlawful assembly!” repeated the trooper in command.
3) Illinois troopers approached and took the man who had originally led the group to march on the street onto the ground, arresting him.
“Shame! Shame!” The crowd yelled at police, calling them “Gestapo.”
VIDEO THREAD: Crowds confronted ICE agents in Brighton Park, Illinois after agents shot a woman there who they say had blocked their vehicles while armed with a gun.
Some threw objects at ICE vehicles, and agents replied by tossing tear gas out the windows and at crowds.
2) ICE agents threw tear gas into the Brighton Park neighborhood, with canisters ending up on bystander porches and under parked cars.
3) ICE, CBP, ATF, and FBI agents gathered near the scene of the shooting, where protesters yelled at them as well.
One agent danced along to chants of "No hate! No fear! ICE is not welcome here!"
VIDEO THREAD: Illinois State and local police joined forces with ICE and other federal agents to push back protesters outside the Broadview ICE facility, making several arrests Friday morning.
Unlike prior weeks, agents used blunt force rather than chemical irritant weapons.
2) As protesters attempted to block ICE vehicles from entering or exiting the facility, Illinois State troopers pushed them aside, in some cases even physically picking them up, placing them on the grass nearby, and making arrests.
ICE agents waved as they drove by.
3) "Get back!" shouted Illinois State troopers using batons as they shielded ICE agents in vehicles from the protesters.
Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills, who has previously been critical of ICE, watched the situation closely, in person.
Tonight outside the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, an apparent clergyman wearing a clerical collar approached the building and was shot repeatedly with sting ball rounds by agents front the rooftop until he fell on his knees.
"God is watching you, and you will pay for this," he yelled to them before activists poured water into his eyes.
2) It was soon after the clergyman had been string-balled repeatedly that ICE agents made a push into the protesters.
The intermittent clashes that followed led to several arrests and countless sting-balls fired, hitting me at least four times (causing me to leave the scene).
3) Earlier, a woman attempted to block a vehicle leaving the facility.
She was maced, thrown to the ground, shot repeatedly with sting ball rounds, and appeared to be let go, only to have ICE push in and arrest her as her friends treated her face.
