Today we opened a Spirit Halloween at the vacant Google Headquarters.
We did a load-in this afternoon. Please pardon our appearance on Embarcadero as we unload bags of Halloween decor and costumes into the lobby.
We’re actually a little confused where our inventory should go and the zone manager Steve is away at lunch. 🎃
This real estate is in a great location and it’s sitting there empty. Had to jump on the opportunity. Join us! (Sorry, again for the appearance while we remodel.) 👻🚧
Thanks to this team for the smooth load-in! It’s going to be a great Halloween shopping season and I’m glad we’re putting this empty office to a better use. 📸 Adam, Beverly, Dana, Jeff, Susan, Dave, Dave, Chris, and Dave. (Not pictured: Dave & Steve)

Hell yes! Mayor London Breed partnered with 7-Eleven on a new initiative to bring Japanese onigiri to convenience stores in San Francisco. I’m beyond thrilled! Got in line early yesterday and snagged one 🍙 Thank you #7eleven
If you’re not familiar with onigiri, it's a delicious and popular snack sold packaged at every 7-Eleven in Japan, and all over Asia. It's a triangle-shaped rice ball with savory/salty fillings, wrapped in seaweed. It’s a perfect snack. But they are *very* hard to find in the US
I love this initiative to make onigiri more widely available! These were $2.89 at the 221 Sansome 7-Eleven (I think a promo deal?). We have a serious lack of affordable and healthy snack options in America, so this is big news for improved quality of life
After 21 years of serving San Francisco expensive ink cartridges for last-minute deadlines, the Harrison St OfficeMax will close its doors tomorrow. (I also asked the liquidators & the rubberband ball IS available.)
I'd like to share some of my favorite memories from OfficeMax.
In 2019, I attended a wedding in OfficeMax. Very few people know about this party venue. It's centrally located and always empty. Friends married and exchanged vows with a variety of office supplies in the back aisle. We had cake too! There's lots of shelf space. 💍📎🖨
I enjoyed OfficeMax's semi-public conversation nook / quiet reflection lounge. There were always 20+ swivel chairs available.
I love watching the fog roll in through the train windows when I take BART to Sausalito. #dalle#dalle2
I'm so glad we decided to convert the Golden Gate Bridge to train tracks in the late 1970s. Especially since the bridge is not that nice for walking, biking, or driving. Makes commuting to Marin County so much better. #dalle#dalle2
A dollhouse replica of a building being reclaimed by nature, left inside that same building.
A sculpture project I wanted to do years ago, now generated with AI.

And... zoomed out! You can zoom out if you shrink an image, leave whitespace, reupload it, erase the white space with inpainting, and generate the same prompt on top of that image.
My prompt for DALL-E used a specific location I've been to, so these results really surprised me.
I uploaded the wrong zoomed out version! Here's a different one where I cleaned up the glitches and changed the lighting.
DALL-E is actually very tool-like, in the sense that you can use a paintbrush to erase portions and regenerate them with new words to achieve desired effects
The @OpenAI team to me: "We'd like to share our new visual media tool with a few artists to gather feedback"
They should have said: "We'd like to bestow upon you the gift of glimpsing into infinite human consciousness to invoke parallel worlds. Ready to wield this power?" #dalle
It's not just a visual media tool; that's just the surface-level description.
When you incant a new "zone" on DALL-E, it evokes an alternative timeline of human and natural creation—with illusion of having always existed, as well as a timeline that you can shape. #dalle2#dalle
Like this timeline where there's a public art piece of statues slipping on ice. This feels like a real destination people have been visiting for 40 years.
