Standard advice to an Irishman when he has dug himself into a hole :
"STOP DIGGING"
The "invoice" shown in the Rich Repair video purporting to relate to a 2021 battery replacement was forged from a 2019 Receipt for Supercharger Fees vice.com/en/article/3aq…
Here is the original document before Rich Rebuilds doctored it :
And here is the doctored version from Rich Rebuilds, purporting to be a "quote" for a Model S Battery Replacement
Apart from the admitted forgery, the problem is that there is no $22,500 Battery Replacement for a 2013 Model S
This copy of the Tesla EPC price list was provided by Rich Rebuilds :
- New 75 kWh Battery is shown for $17,500
- Remanufactured 70 kWh Battery is shown for $9,300
And an unrelated third party was recently quoted $10,500 by a real Tesla Service Center for a Remanufactured Battery on a similar 2013 Model S
- with diagnosis and replacement costs of $428.75
Rich Rebuilds charged his customer $5,000 for replacing 2 out of 16 modules in the other 2013 Model S Battery Pack
- plus $2,000 for diagnosis and replacement costs
A different unrelated third party paid $13,500 for a 75 kWh Model 3 Battery Pack to replace one that had been physically damaged
As VICE noted in their article, the only way to know the real cost of a Tesla Replacement Battery is to get the Service Center to quote you for your specific vehicle
- as packs changed over the years
But there is no evidence that this was actually done in the Rich Rebuilds case
