The Right has embraced infantile, childish fantasies, playing soldier, dressing up as warriors, telling itself absurd, rationless stories meant to center themselves as heroes.

We spend so much time focusing on the horrors of authoritarianism that we’ve forgotten how childish and ridiculous it is. How it’s all dress-up, make-believe, and bizarre weirdos acting out their violent fantasies.
It’s left us slow in recognizing the dangers.

Because America can’t reckon with it’s own inherent fascism, we’ve been taught it’s only present if someone wears an armband or declares themselves openly. We miss the absurdity of it all, how even the most laughable ideas and behaviors can take root and lead to tragedy.
Fascism is all pretend. Absolute nonsense dressed up in uniforms. Under the surface: ridiculous conspiracy theories, absurd pseudo-religion, laughable “philosophy.”
The Right is absolutely preposterous. But that’s part of the draw.
