Yesterday, I f*cked up.

I lost an important game for my team.

🧵 What my father said next will stay with me forever...
Context: it was a cricket game.

I had to bowl the last ball. 6 runs are needed to win.

I had bowled well the entire match but in the end, it all came down to this...
I lost.

Completely devasted.

Cried for a solid 10 minutes too.

I usually don't cry for anything.

But this was our shot to get to the finals.

Now we just have to do *more* work. Because of me.
Fast-forward:

We win the next 2 consecutive matches.

We finally beat the team that we lost to twice.

We won the tournament.
At that point, my emotions were so mixed.

It felt like a dream.

But what my dad said next will stick with me forever...
"This is why we play the game, Aadit.

For the pressure, for the passion, for the lessons.

This is why I tell you to never stop playing sports."
Sports teaches you to fight back even when you're down.

It’s never over.
Sports teaches you to execute when you're under pressure.

(Didn't work for me initially. Took so many iterations).
Sports teaches you that losing is okay.
Sports teaches you that there are ups and downs in life.
This thread was written solely for the reason to inspire you if you're having a bad day.

Because I thought I was having the worst day yesterday.

And suddenly we came back.
I think that's a big part of life:

Sometimes, you come back in the day itself.

Sometimes, it takes years for a comeback.

The ones that are patient enough will receive the rewards.
Anyway, if you enjoyed this little anecdote, share it with a friend!

Most people suck at being interesting via DMs.

The thing is - it takes a lot of time and effort to do it right.

Here are 9 frameworks to stand out from the crowd:
Pre-game:

Start on the timeline:

1. Turn on notifications for your favorite tweeters.

2. Reply with something insightful in under 10 minutes.

You will enter their radar.

Then, follow up on a specific tweet or idea via DM.
Don't make "connections", make friends:

Remember: Twitter is different.

You don't have an audience-consumer relationship like LinkedIn or TikTok.

On Twitter, it's a friend-friend relationship.
