Dholpur is a area with 25000 acres of land along with 5000 year old Shiva temple and cave. This area is under encroachment and gradually more people are coming .
Indigenous people are in completely devastated. Robbery and dacoity are going on un endingly. Govt has taken up eviction initiative and discuss with local Muslim. They were promised land as per land policy. They agree to.
Last 2 days eviction drive was peaceful. But 10,000 people attacked @assampolice yesterday and in retaliation police fired. 2 people died. 8 injured.
The Govt of Assam has ordered judicial enquiry. In Assam obviously indigenous people are happy. But not the encroachers or the illegal migrants.

A brief history about the Dholpur, Encroachment:

Dholpur encroachment issue is not new but started during the late ’70s. Till 1979, there were only 37 families who migrated from Nagaon district. By the end of 1981, several 100s of families settled there by encroaching it. 1/n Image
The encroachers' first targeted the age-old Shiv temple and its land. By 1981 when the Assam agitation was on the pick, 100s of families were brought to Dholpur by Congress leaders. They first encroached the 180 bighas of land that belongs to the Shiv temple. 2/n ImageImageImage
Later the whole area which is more than 77000 bighas were encroached by thousands of families who migrated from outside the country. Initially, the big trees inside the temple campus were cleared & valuables belonging to the temple were looted. 3/n

Daya, Bhabani and many other Assamese souls may be weeping even today in Garukhuti.

We don't forget what happened 40 years ago back. Today many are unaware of the slaughter of eight Assamese youth at Garukhuti, Assam for the same acres of land illegally encroached.
The blood thirsty encroachers brutally killed Bhabani Goswami, Jatin Saharia, Muja Bora, Dimbeswar Deka, Khitei Deka, Daya Sarma, Hargobinda and many others. They encroached more than 77000 bighas of land in Garukhuti. This land has blood of many indigenous youths.
Today the same encroachers are waging a war against Assam Police personnel who are trying to clear up the encroached lands.

These devil encroachers are very powerful, instigated, supported and established by Congress & CPIM by then.
