If y’all want to marvel at the “free-range parenting” of the 1970s, peep this: I can remember my older brother - not yet a teenager - bundling me up in my purple snow suit, so we could catch a cable car + BART to Candlestick park to watch the (Oakland) Raiders game. Wild.
Mom said, “you can go, but you have to take your little sister.” So we went. 🤷🏽♀️🙃😂🤣
Or, how about the times my brother “borrowed” the keys to my mom and dad’s Caddy, and we *caught air* going over the railroad tracks. “Wheeee!” I squealed. 😂🤣 🙄 OMFG. 🤦🏽♀️💩
The “free range parenting” extended to my aunt Tracy’s family. (“Big Tracy,” was known to ride with Hells Angel’s.) All us kids got thrown in together, to “watch each other.” 🙄 An unnamed 4-yr-old may or may not have caught my mom’s living room curtains on fire....
Me and my cousin (same age) walked to school by ourselves. In Kindergarten.
