.@GavinNewsom we’re asking you to #SaveRooftopSolar . I’ve been personally affected by PG&E’s behavior and have a stake in the solar rooftop issue. Our home in Glen Ellen was burned down in the 2017 Tubbs fire – 1/
a PG&E-caused fire in the year that kicked off our new reality of utility-started megafires destroying parts of the state every year. We rebuilt and finally moved back home this past April. We had solar panels installed this summer, along with battery back-up. 2/
The principle reason for this is to do our part. We can’t in good conscience use fossil fuels as long as there is an alternative available to us. We have children. We want them to have a world to live in.
3/
The second reason is that our system will allow us to continue to function when PG&E has to shut down their lines, which is a constant threat for most of the year, as you know. It will also reduce the need for long-distance transmission overall. 4/
PG&E’s business model is outdated and actively hostile to our climate and our homes. Yet they’re lobbying to keep it, not modernize, punish ratepayers like us, and discourage more solar installations across the state. Like so much of their behavior, that’s just wrong. 5/
We’re asking Governor Newsom to prevail upon his appointees to support the people of California against the utilities’ power grab. end/ @solar_rights@IndvSanJoseAdmn@IndivisibleSoCo
