Medical board topnotcher Inez Benedicto: Growing up, my mother had to undergo an operation then my grandmother she as in and out of the hospital… (1/2)
Benedicto: those instances were my first encounter with doctors and was inspired with the doctors who took care of my family. (2/2)
Benedicto adds when she was exposed in a public hospital, her desire to become a doctor was further solidified.
Medical board topnotcher Jude Philip Cebrecus says he is from a family of doctors: Growing up, I’ve always been exposed in a hospital and felt comfortable in a hospital. It just came naturally to me.
Benedicto: The review season was very stressful... with the ongoing pandemic, there was difficulty in processing our documents.
Benedicto: There is this feeling that the exam could get canceled. It was a test of character, endurance, and strength. Thankfully, I was able to pass that difficult time.
Cebrecus: It was like a very long marathon…. I chose to pursue taking this exam… What inspired me to continue is I wanted this from the beginning.
Cebrecus: Even though there was risk, I just prayed I will e safe and I will achieve my dream so that I can serve in the frontline.
Benedicto on the PH COVID-19 response: I can say it is dismal. The rest of the world is already moving on but here in the PH we are still having a surge. I think that is something the gov't should reflect on.
Benedicto: Even us post-graduate interns, I think we were robbed of that experience to hone our skills, meet patients inside the hospital.
Benedicto: I really think there is room for improvement and the gov't should listen to medical professionals.
Cebrecus: Other countries are opening up their borders, containing surges but here we are still debating.
Cebrecus also says medical professionals should be properly compensated as they lead the fight vs. COVID-19.
Cebrecus: It sounds like we are complaining… there is a proper way for us not to be a martyr in this pandemic only if we are properly compensated.
