CLYBURN, Congress' most powerful advocate for Medicaid expansion, is voicing new willingness to scale back the provision to just 5 years rather than a permanent authorization.
Knives are out for Medicaid expansion due to politics as well as cost. Both Clyburn and Sen. Warnock say they've been asked by disgruntled colleagues why red states should be rewarded for not expanding earlier.
Champions of the home care piece of the bill are also adjusting their expectations as deep cuts loom. They're acknowledging they probably won't get the full 400B Biden wanted & are now pushing for around half that--enough to clear the 800k+ wait list of people who need home care.
