1) The @womensmarch explained why they don't want coat-hangers at the protests on Saturday, this way:
"No coathangers - we do not want to accidentally reenforce the Right Wing talking points that self-managed abortions are dangerous, scary and harmful."
It is NOT a "Right Wing talking point" to recognize that when abortion is illegal, women die.
It is the cold-sober truth. A truth that will be paid for in the blood & suffering of women if we don't confront it and STOP IT.
3) Do we really need to be making the argument that when abortion is illegal—when the full power of the state is put behind preventing and punishing those who participate in abortion—it becomes unsafe for the vast majority of women?
4) Unsafe in that not all medication abortions work.
Unsafe in that even when they do work, it is only up until about 10 or 11 weeks into pregnancy.
Unsafe in that it could soon become illegal to receive abortion pills through the mail.
5) Unsafe in that criminal elements who give zero fucks about women will seek to dominate this market, as they did before Roe and do to most underground markets.
Unsafe in that anyone who dares to help a woman could be financially and socially ruined for doing so.
6) Unsafe in that as abortion is increasingly criminalized & even more shamed, the vast majority of women won’t know how to access the pill and will resort to even more desperate means—yes, hangers, but also drinking bleach and Purell, throwing themselves down stairs, and worse.
7) Unsafe in that forcing women and girls to live in fear and silence and shame, to have their dreams foreclosed by forced motherhood, to risk isolation and imprisonment, is... fundamentally unsafe.
1) I'm disturbed by how little buzz there seems to be about the nationwide protests on October 2 for reproductive rights.
In the current episode of the #RNLshow, we bring alive why it matters so much to get out and join this protest:
2) Did you know that the #TexasAbortionBan is not only a radical assault on women's lives RIGHT NOW in Texas... but also a significant LEAP in the assault on the rule of law in this country?
My interview with Dahlia Lithwick lays this bare:
3) But that's not all that is in Ep 71 of the #RNLshow.
Andy Zee goes hard at the horror at the U.S./Mexico border & all that's concentrated in the cowboy Texas slave-catchers terrorizing Haitians who have fled conditions created by... U.S. imperialism!
