1- “Ricki Kaplan’s friends say ‘this shouldn’t have happened.”

This is tragic and that statement is true, but not for the reasons her friends probably think (cont).
2- She followed the gospel of Fauci. But…(cont).
3- ..She was immunocompromised. She should never had been led to believe she was safe.

Btw, had to read way down in the article to find this nugget.
4- On top of that is the elephant in the room. She was obese.
5- To make matters even worse, they probably put her on a ventilator too soon.

Also no mention in the article of treating her with monoclonal ABs.
6- This is infuriating. This poor woman was in the highest possible risk category. Yet she was led to believe that the miracle slot & a dumb mask kept her safe. So she punted sensible precautions, and now she is dead.

Her friends are right, this didn’t need to happen.

1- Recently watcher the movie “Shattered Glass”, about reporter Stephen Glass & the numerous stories he literally made up for then prestigious “The New Republic” in the late 1990s.

It was a reminder that..(cont)

2- … independent publisher “fact-checking” of stories often just means the final story matches the reporter’s raw notes.

If an enterprising reporter makes up notes or is being fed bs; welp, it’s considered fact-checked.

Glass did this for years before he was busted (cont).
3- And it wasn’t just “The New Republic”. From the linked article:

“..the compelling wunderkind who had seeped inside the skins of editors not only at The New Republic but also at Harper’s, George, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, and Mother Jones.”

1- This is the week 3 NFL injury report for 2019.

Most teams have 2-3 players that are out or suspect. The majority of those are minor injuries e.g. contusions, ankle sprains, etc.

Now look at 2021..(cont).

espn.com/nfl/story/_/pa…
2- Week 3 now..👇🏽

Many teams with a multitude of players out, from minor injuries to issues like torn ACLs.

On top of this are the COVID protocols, which have several players out due to COVID or exposure to it.

This looks alarmingly different (cont).

espn.com/nfl/injuries
3- Here is the Baltimore Ravens section..👇🏽

An NFL active roster a little over 50 players. This is nearly half that amount, and it's week 3.

Seems like there's a deeper story here. I guess we'll see as the season continues.

1- "I was just one more example of our country’s tug and pull between fantasies of a post-covid summer and the realities of our still-raging pandemic, in which even the vaccinated can get sick."

Anatomy of a breakthrough case (cont).

khn.org/news/article/f…
2- "I had a breakthrough case of covid-19 — despite my two shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the second one in April."

"Where did I get it? Who knows."

At least this reporter doesn't scream at the unvaccinated.
3- "We had flown across the country, seen friends, stayed at a hotel, eaten indoors and, yes, even gone to a long-delayed wedding with other vaccinated people."

Weddings and reunions, every time.

Definition of insanity (thread) 🧵

1- Here is Emerson College back in July announcing their vax mandate.

"Therefore, like students, all faculty and staff members must be vaccinated before returning to our Boston and Los Angeles campuses."

today.emerson.edu/2021/07/13/vac…
2- Fast forward to today.

"Emerson will not transition to a mask-optional policy on Sept. 17, instead extending the college’s requirement that all community members wear a mask indoors indefinitely."

Back to masks. Great.

But wait, there's more.

berkeleybeacon.com/emerson-extend…
3- "All requests for campus access by non-community members must be approved by the appropriate vice president or dean in consultation with the college’s COVID team."

The open borders people sure seem to like metaphorical walls now. 🤦🏽‍♂️

1- This is deranged. 👇

There is no way to know who the poor man caught COVID from, yet the widow is railing at the unvaccinated instead of railing at the drug companies for making a crappy product and/or owning her own terrible risk decision (cont).
2- “Gary Keplinger had a rare neurological condition, called myasthenia gravis, which may have made him particularly susceptible to complications from the coronavirus,..”

Heartbreaking but not the fault of unvaccinated people.
3- “But then, in July, they attended a gathering of extended family in a rented hall. It was attended by about 50-75 people, including numerous unvaccinated relatives, Ardith Keplinger said.”

These are the worst events for outbreaks.

Surely they knew the risk. Terrible choice.

1- These clowns never stop.

"How significant are waning antibodies?

Scientists don’t really know the implications yet."

If only we had done, you know, studies.

washingtonpost.com/business/how-d…
2- More:

"Are boosters working in the real world?

Time will tell."

If only we had done, you know, studies.
3- "Delta is also better at evading pre-existing immunity, rendering vaccines less potent."

This is buried deep in the article, with little further commentary. Seems like kind of a big deal.
