The same people who spent years full of self righteous indignation about the lies and broken promises of Brexiteers and Boris Johnson now say well Keir Starmer deceiving his way to the Labour leadership is fine, actually, because the left are fair game so anything goes
The same people who spent years denouncing the abuse and vitriol they received from Corbyn supporters, and for being denounced as Red Tories, are now calling me every name under the sun on my timeline, as well as a Tory for that matter
The same people who call themselves “liberals” are furiously denouncing I’m sacked from the Guardian and purged from the Labour Party for having the temerity to express opinions rooted in incontrovertible facts which make them feel upset and uncomfortable
These people are terrible hypocrites, of course, and often just really horrible on a personal level, but they’re also upset because they invested everything in Starmer, he got an easy ride from the media and PLP, yet it all fell apart, and they want someone, anyone to blame
But tough: I’ve had far scarier people trying to silence me than angry centrists who’ve overdone it on the Merlot and think “cockwomble” is a witty retort, so my advice to them is - suck it up, and all the best!
