There are tons of ways to repurpose recorded content.

Let's focus on one: turning a podcast, video or webinar into an article.

Here are 1⃣0⃣ways to do it (w/examples)...

🧵
1/The Q&A - an interview transcript edited for length and clarity.

Works well when you’ve interviewed someone w/name recognition. Also good if the person expresses a lot of strong opinions.

Example: @DanSchawbel does this w/5 Questions podcast
2/The list - informative resources or items.

Also known as a “listicle,” headline usually includes the number of things listed. Good if content has at least 5 tips/ideas/tools.

Example: 50 ideas from @chrisguillebeau's Side Hustle School
3/The News Article - fact-focused piece conveying the “news” from a conversation.

Good to use if your recording captures unique information, including metrics.

Example: @pkafka has done this frequently for his @Recode Media podcast.
4/The As-Told-To - first-person piece, written by a professional writer, from the perspective of the interviewee.

This format feels more direct than third-person accounts.

Example: @Foundersuite has done this: “How My Wife and I Raised $11 Million For The Mom Project”
5/The Deep Dive - in-depth article based on information from multiple podcast episodes and other sources of reference.

As name suggests, great for detailed & highly informative content.

Example: An epic (and now timely) piece on @Mailchimp based on interviews w/@benchestnut
6/The Thought Leadership Piece - an opinion piece that offers a specific point of view.

Great if you discuss concepts that relate to the why of what you do.

Example: “Should You Host or Guest?” for @interviewvalet founder, published in @PodcastBJournal
7/The Brain Dump - comprehensive resharing of thoughts, ideas or predictions from a presentation, conversation or interview.

Good for relaying information from someone noteworthy.

Example: @EntryLevelRebel's coverage of ep 1 of Bill Gates podcast in Inc.
8/The Briefing - conversation vignettes that summarize a discussion and recap the main points.

Great for recordings where a lot of ideas are discussed and/or there are multiple speakers.

Example: Cushman & Wakefield’s What’s Next in Corporate Real Estate.
9/The How To Article - helps readers learn “how to” do something. Could be tactical or conceptual (mental models or mindset shifts).

Example: From @ethanwaldman's Tiny House Lifestyle podcast "How To Turn Your Tiny Home Into an Income-Generating Investment Property"
10/The SEO Boost - update an old blog post w/ repurposed recorded content for SEO optimization.

Can be a great way to update if you have a decent archive of written content.

Example: @theadvisorcoach took podcast episodes to update & expand on older posts

That's all, folks!

Critics say repurposing = regurgitation. That couldn’t be further from the truth when you take your best content, build and expand upon it.

The examples ☝️show you the possibilities.
