Last month, I asked for your favorite newsletters and what you loved about them.
Here are the top 5 most recommended, what I learned from each and a surprise announcement 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
1) First 1000 - each week @abouelatta_ali shares one unheard of story about how a startup got its first 1000 customers.
Each contains ready to use actionable ideas.
Lesson Learned: Original and actionable content resonates.
2) Not Boring - @packyM picks a hairy business topic or trend and provides deep insights and original thoughts.
Lesson Learned: The longer the newsletter, the more it must entertain and keep your attention.
3) @MorningBrew - it provides succinct and important business news that's extremely digestible and fun.
Learning: Make it informative, brief and stick to your premise
4) @farnamstreet - Sunday Brain Food provides mental models, quotes, concepts and lessons that always help you stretch yourself.
Lesson Learned: If they will learn, they will read
5) @JamesClear - The #1 most recommended is my personal favorite: 3 ideas, 2 quotes and 1 question.
It is the most value per minute I spend each week.
Lesson Learned: Keep it short and actionable
6) Here is what I learned about winning newsletters:
• Keep it short (ideally under 1min read time)
• Maximize the information value
• Make it actionable and thought provoking
• Stick to the premise
• It must be referable/shareable
And now for my special announcement...
7) I AM LAUNCHING A NEWSLETTER!!
It will include all of the above... but I wanted to turn it up a notch with something that was distinctly...ME.
Beyond links and quotes, I've always liked to help others in business, especially by connecting them to opportunities.
For example:
8)
• Getting someone an awesome job
• Helping a company raise money
• Finding a great candidate for a company
• Connecting people to a great product/service
... And much much more
9) Introducing... The 3-1-4 Newsletter
3 - Links to content that I love
1 - Thought from my brain
4 - Opportunities from my network
