Are we just buying "silly animal JPEGs" or is the most crucial parts of "The Metaverse", (Identity, culture, social), being onboarded right before our eyes?
Thread 1/
2/ For much of the world we're just buying "JPEGs" but for many of us it's something deeper.
Community, yes, but for projects/founders SERIOUS in building a legacy, 2021 - the year of the pfp is laying the foundations of a buzzing metaverse.
3/ We've seen some interesting road maps.
- Some are building 3D avatars, taking them virtual.
- Some are doing airdrops
- Some have locked content areas
- Some are building games
Some are doing all the above ^. Let's dive deep into what 2022 and beyond might look like.
4/ Social verification.
Earlier Twitter teased a verification symbol for select avatars. The future of social media is to integrate and verify ownership of your displayed assets.
Starts with a profile pic. But why not background art NFT? Why not be able to buy/bid directly?
5/ Take avatars virtual.
@Habbo announced their avatar project with their intention to make them playable in game. No brainer!
They're definitely not the only ones. Where people start to hang out, identities will be needed.
6/ Some very exciting projects around the corner building 3D skins/model versions of their avatars to take into games/virtual worlds.
Building a multitude of games that accept avatar NFTs is a no brainer for any well funded Avatar project.
EASY P2E model and community engagement feature.
eg, @RumbleKongs are creating a 3v3 basketball game.
11/ Protocols built around community.
As community grows within avatar projects, they'll build contracts/tech that serve their people.
Maybe someone wants to rent an avatar for a metaverse concert. Maybe a member wants help distributing THEIR avatar project.
12/ Using your avatar in Zoom meetings.
@polygonalmind allow you to use VRM files of their avatars to take it to zoom meetings etc so you can connect it to your body movements! You can see @kevinonearth999 using it on his stream. (as a cat).
