(2/) When talking about mental health (MH) in academia, thereβs often discussion about how the individual can cope. But there isnβt enough focus on the day-to-day experiences and struggles that come with mental illness or MH issues, and on the people living with mental illness.
(3/) Through the experiences and stories shared in this video series, let's try to focus on the bad days and on just how difficult it is for someone living with mental illness to do basic life tasks, work, show up, and survive on these particularly bad days.
(4/) By building awareness about mental illness and its lived experience, we hope that we can reduce the stigma surrounding it and in turn, increase understanding, care, and support for those who are living with mental illness and MH issues in academia
(6/) Speaking openly about mental illness is never easy. So, if you're watching/sharing/commenting on this video series pls be kind, understanding, and supportive towards the people who've shared their time and experiences with us. Let's make them feel loved and appreciated π₯°
