Thinking about the official tribute for P...and how it wasn't televised for everyone to see. Yes it was 8 trillion hours long (loved every minute), but the world deserved to say goodbye, together. 💔

I remember feeling exhausted after several hours of being there. I sat down as my feet hurt and Purple Rain started...and I've always been lukewarm about that song in a "of course we have to do this" vain...
The band was playing it live and then a voice began singing. At first I was like "did they get an impersonator or something/?! That's lame!
Then I realized it was HIS voice.
It sounded so present it was like he was there.
And I SOBBED.
I hadn't cried about his passing until that moment because I'm really bad at avoiding my feelings. Plus I always kept him so present, especially with boots, it never seemed like he was gone.
That was the moment I realized he wasn't here anymore.
Only a few times in my whole life I cried like that. When my favorite uncle died, when a close family member was diagnosed with cancer.
It was cathartic to finally get it out, but heart rending.
I....kind of wish more people got to have that experience in safe place where we could all spend hours listening to his actual whole legacy front to back music wise...and then hear HIM send us away....especially with that final "I love you".
Man...

Prince Rogers Nelson was a prolific artist. It was once said that a new album could be released annually for decades once he ducked out. With that in mind, it's easy to get frustrated thinking of all that's available but hasn't yet been seen or heard. 📷 Randee St Nicholas
Tonight, we're going to take a look at reissues, Paisley events, and other partnerships that have been established by Prince's estate, the organization charged with monotonizing and protecting his name, music, and likeness in order to promote his legacy for generations to come.
We start April 2016. Before Prince ducked out, he made a deal to reissue his back catalog. Dirty Mind, Prince and Controversy made it out, but more were to follow all the way up to Come.
So it WAS an official figure! Go...figure! 😅💜. Hop on this one y'all! It's been available via cons for a while now for the casuals who collect things like this not limited to #Prince!
Closer look in this preview video from this past July!
Gotta say though, kinda sucks it isn't available through Sideshow. Benefit there is that they have a mechanism where you can pay for something like this over time.
Getting the good news already! @polishedsolid announced the Triple Threat symposium already, but she also announced a one day symposium for The O(+> album!
Alright kicking us off on day 3 is @Journalistorian on How Prince Used 'Controversy' To Address The News Cycle Of 1980-1981 Through Song
Just kidding…a taste….of Joy…in Repetition. Circa 2002. It’s fine I didn’t technically share it just pointing y’all to this fine soldier in Prince’s army
04…we knew the things that happened then…but here’s another thing that happened….Pulling a song he wrote, covered by Tevin, reclaimed by him on 95’s Gold Experience, presented to you here by a mature Professor.
