Convicted pedophile Spenser Farr lived in Steelville, MO. A victim reported promptly in 2013, but due to intervention by Farr's dad, no charges were filed until 5 years later when a 2nd victim came forward to report their own 2012 - 2013 abuse.
Where was Spenser in 2018 when charges were filed?
He was working as YOUTH PASTOR at Hamlin Baptist Church about 2-1/2 hours away.
He was living in Bolivar, MO.
What else is in Bolivar?
Southwest Baptist University where Spenser's dad is a trustee.
Credit goes to Hamlin Baptist where they immediately fired Farr, but that church should never have been placed in the position of not knowing they had an accused pedophile on staff. They thought they had a nice young man who was the son of a trusted pastor & SBU trustee.
At best, the elder Farr used his power as pastor of the First Baptist Church in a small town to avoid immediate charges and then stayed silent when his accused son took a youth pastor job 2+ hours away.
At worst, SBU trustee Farr helped relocate his accused son over 2 hours away and used this same pastoral power & credibility to get Spenser a job in another Missouri Baptist church knowing that he was putting kids at risk of abuse.
Is this the type of leader that @mobaptists want as pastor & trustee? The average MBC pew sitter has no idea about this & wouldn't approve.
You know who does almost certainly know?
EC member John Yeats.
Has he used his platform to expose this story & protect kids?
Nope.
And this should break our hearts.
At trial, 3 of the victims now around 17, had the courage to get on the stand.
Guess who testified against these victims for the defense?
Pastor & SBU trustee Kevin Farr....and he brought church members along to testify as well.
The SBC had a sex abuse task force in 2008.
Yet, a decade later 3 victims had to hear a Baptist pastor & church members testify on behalf of their abuser.
A jury did what the Baptists would not. They protected kids by putting a pedophile outside the camp & exposing his sins.

Two of the @SBCExecComm members who voted "no" on the @JaredcWellman motion are John Yeats and James Freeman. It's important to know how these men are connected to major sexual abuse cases in @mobaptists churches.
Yeats is the Exec Director of the Missouri Baptist Convention. Freeman was / is the attorney for the former pastor of FBC Greenwood, Mike Roy. Mike hired now-convicted pedophile, Shawn Davies, as associate pastor. Davies was under sex abuse investigation in Kentucky when hired.
Davies was ultimately convicted of sexual abuse in both Kentucky & Missouri back in 2006. A parent came to Pastor Mike Roy to report abuse. This is what happened at the first meeting.
