One realization I had during the pandemic is that scientists tend to focus hard on innovating and pushing out new vaccines and therapeutics, without paying attention to why people around them do not trust these vaccines and therapeutics.
Even as a scientist, I grew increasingly ticked off by the lack of transparency and honesty from some of the scientists at the top of their fields.
I had to keep reminding myself that these are just a few scientists.

It bothers me that a small number - a small number! - of scientists given millions of dollars to do life-saving work (virus hunting + vaccine/therapeutics development) have been sitting on information this critical to tracking the origin of Covid-19 for more than 1.5 years.
It also bothers me that a larger number of scientists who are aware of these emails, reports and documents are not vigorously calling on these small number of scientists to hand over everything they know now before more of it is leaked/FOIA'ed causing more public distrust.
If we want to be prepared for the next pandemic, we have to start planting seeds of trust today.
