This afternoon I spoke with New Brunswick's CMOH Dr. Jennifer Russell about the current situation in the province. @Global_NB
On her main concerns as we hit more than 1,000 active cases, the strain on the hospital system is one.
Russell says the two health authorities have collaborated effectively so far in keeping things as stable as it can.
"They have worked extraordinarily hard," she said.
Both Vitalite Health Network and Horizon Health Network move to the red level -- which effectively reduces or stops all non-essential hospital services.
NEW: Another person has died as a result of COVID-19 in the province.
Public Health is reporting 98 new cases of the virus, with 1,037 active cases.
Of the new cases, 47 – or 48 per cent – are unvaccinated, nine – or nine per cent – are partially vaccinated, and 42 – or 43 per cent – are fully vaccinated.
In this case, the # of unvaccinated people almost matches the number of fully vaccinated who've contracted the virus.
There are 56 people hospitalized due to the virus, with 20 in an intensive care unit.
