Update:

Last week has been a 2nd birth for me. After suffering a massive heart attack on Tue, I went into surgery & had to have angioplasty done.

Doctors said it was very touch & go & it was almost over at one point.

If I’m here today, I owe it to ALL to a few people.

(1/4)
My brother @SarimNaved who took me to the hospital in time against all odds - he’s why I’m breathing.

My leader @MamataOfficial, @abhishekaitc, @derekobrienmp & AITC family members in Delhi who stood ROCK SOLID behind us - I now know why we call ourselves a family ❤️.

(2/4)
Dr. Harshvardhan Hegde who stayed by my side throughout, my surgeon Dr. Praveer Agarwal, & the entire team at Fortis Escorts @fortis_hospital Delhi who made sure I sailed through this nightmare - my deepest gratitude.

It’s on to a life now with many healthier changes.

(3/4)
I’m just glad to be back & will be up & running in no time slowly getting back to speed.

Oh btw Narendra & Amit - while they fixed my heart, I asked the docs to check for signs of fear. Lucky me - they couldn’t find any.

The fight goes on. Onward & upward.

I have to say:

This is VERY important in the context of freedom of the media & freedom of expression overall.

Does a journalist/whistleblower need to approach the authorities before publishing an investigative piece?

Do they have to be complainants first?

(1/4)
I was served a copy of the plaint just yesterday. All 429 pages of it.

Can a defendant be expected to read all of it & file a response within 24 hours?

Should a defendant be given a chance to at least file an affidavit with their rebuttals/counter-arguments?

(2/4)
Not sure which law requires a complaint to be filed with authorities before publicly asking & publishing questions over the affidavit of a Union Minister.

Also which law requires a person to approach the “subject” first?

If this, how will investigative journalism work?

Union govt's LPG scam:

From May 2020, in the middle of lockdown, the Narendra govt sneakily stopped paying LPG subsidy to eligible customers.

Subsidy credit to people's bank accounts abruptly stopped exactly a year ago while LPG prices kept rising.

Here's what I was told 👇
LPG subsidy was paid as a difference between market price & subsidized price to eligible consumers. This started under the UPA Govt.

LPG subsidy was directly credited to bank accounts after linking of Aadhaar.

This abruptly stopped for all consumers in May 2020.

(1/6)
That's because in May 2020, citing "low fuel prices", the Narendra Govt. claimed that the price of a subsidized AND non-subsidized LPG cylinder was now the same at Rs. 594 per cylinder.

This was used as an excuse to not pay/credit subsidies.

Update:

On April 25, I'd filed an RTI with @DelhiPolice seeking details after many Covid-19 volunteers complained they'd been called by the police asking them to delete posts regarding medicine/oxygen leads.

I'd also requested volunteers to save details of such calls.

(1/3) ImageImage
The @DelhiPolice HQ has flat-out denied that any such calls were made by the police or that any requests were made to take down social media posts.

There have been separate responses from ALL Delhi Police districts stating the same.

I have an appeal for all volunteers.

(2/3) Image
If you/someone you know did receive a call from Delhi Police while doing Covid-19 volunteer work, please reach out to me with details.

Based on this RTI response, any call/demand made by any police officer to volunteers was unauthorized & illegal.

Action WILL be taken.

Update (and VERY IMPORTANT):

Been checking on this situation of Delhi Police calling volunteers sharing resources/leads & 1 thing came up:

If you are aware that someone is selling medicines/oxygen in black/higher prices, DO NOT SHARE OR AMPLIFY THOSE LEADS WITH PEOPLE.

(1/3)
Police have called volunteers in some cases where a patient’s family were told that medicine/oxygen is available at XYZ place for higher prices & they complained.

Do NOT amplify any leads that you are aware are black marketing. No matter how desperate the case is.

(2/3)
Also, if you have confirmed info about someone selling oxygen/medicines in black at inflated prices, record those numbers and inform the police immediately.

Hoarders & black marketers are a cancer to society right now. Don’t enable them & ensure they’re brought to justice

Lies about Kumbh Mela & Covid:

I'd filed an RTI with CMO Haridwar asking how many Covid-19 tests were conducted in the 14-day period from 1st April to 14th April at Kumbh Mela.

Remember: over 3.5 million people bathed in the river on just ONE DAY so imagine the footfall.

(1/7)
Turns out ONLY 62,507 RT-PCR tests we conducted in TOTAL in 14 days. That's about 4464 tests per day.

Also, 2,21,693 Rapid Antigen tests were conducted in 14 days. That's about 3x more than RT-PCR tests which are FAR more accurate.

(2/7)
Also, 2397 samples found +ve on 62,507 RT-PCR tests conducted. That means 3.83% of those tested were Covid +ve.

And ONLY 1237 samples were found +ve in 2,21,693 Antigen tests conducted.

That means ONLY 0.55% tested Covid +ve on Antigen which shows the "accuracy".

Last night, Vile Parle police station in Mumbai seized 4.75 crores worth of Remdesivir vials that were being secretly moved by a Gujarat company.

Suddenly, @Dev_Fadnavis shows up at the police station late night & says BJP ordered those vials from Daman & Gujarat.

(1/5)
Fadnavis then claims that the BJP bought that stock to distribute to people.

1. How did a private individual like Fadnavis procure Remdesivir stock from Gujarat when sale is allowed only to the government?

(2/5)
2. Why didn’t Fadnavis inform the state govt of the supplier & help procure the stock through state channels?

3. In the midst of a severe shortage, why was BJP hoarding 4.75 crores worth of Remdesivir in their party office (just like in Gujarat)?
