I’m just about to move a motion in Qld Parliament that the Greens' renters bill and the government's renters bill be debated side-by-side this week – giving Labor another chance not to slam the door shut on renters.
They knocked it back – not even allowing my motion to be debated – making it pretty damn clear that Labor isn’t here to stand up for Queenslanders who are struggling, they’re here to do the real estate lobby’s bidding. 😡
Over the last few months more than 800 renters made submissions into the recent committee inquiry urging the government to adopt the Greens’ rental reform bill.
The Community Services and Support Committee held the inquiry for these two bills in cognate, and there is absolutely no reason why they should not be debated together.
This is wildly undemocratic and cowardly of Queensland Labor.
