Demi Lovato has some advice when it comes to discussing potential extraterrestrial life: Don't call them 'aliens.'
In an interview with Erin Lim on E! News' 'The Rundown,' the 29-year-old singer and enthusiastic amateur UFO aficionado suggested 'ET' as the preferred name for any such interplanetary lifeforms.
'My fans should know that I do not call them aliens,' Lovato said. 'Because 'alien' is a derogatory term for anything, even extraterrestrials, which is why I call them ETs.'
Lovato was speaking with E! as part of the promotion for their new Peacock docuseries 'Unidentified with Demi Lovato.'
Released in September, the show follows Lovato, sister Dallas Lovato, and friend Matthew Scott Montgomery as the trio speaks with experts and searches for clues about whether there really is more life out there.
Lovato has spoken in the past about an apparent UFO encounter they experienced in Joshua Tree National Park.
In a previous interview with E!'s 'Daily Pop,' the singer said they encountered a 'blue orb that was about 50 feet away,' something they described as a 'beautiful and incredible experience.'

The Alisal Fire, which started Monday, October 11, 2021, swiftly grew to engulf 14,500 acres in California's Santa Barbara County by Wednesday.
It has forced closures on Highway 101 and evacuations of several communities and ranches. Dry underbrush and heavy winds propelled the blaze, which was only 5% contained by Wednesday morning, according to the Santa Barbara Office of Emergency Management.
Human-caused climate change has fueled drier conditions and hotter temperatures, making wildfire seasons worse internationally and especially in the Western U.S.
75% of COVID-19 vaccine doses worldwide have been claimed by 10 countries — here’s how an international agreement established decades ago is hindering vaccine equity today
Decades ago, the TRIPS Agreement was established under the World Trade Organization. The agreement focuses on the trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights.
‘The pharmaceutical industry says that vaccines are complicated, and therefore nobody can make them except us. But what we’re saying is, actually, their monopolies [on vaccine production] are complicated,’ said activist Achal Prabhala.
A baby diamondback terrapin was born with two heads and six legs at the Cape Cod branch of the New England Wildlife Center.
‘No you are not seeing double!’ the center joked on its Facebook page.
The rare birth was a result of a condition called bicephalism, which the center describes as an ‘anomaly that can occur from both genetic and environmental factors that influence an embryo during development.’

In a CNN exclusive, Netflix shared that the South Korean drama had been viewed by 111M accounts and counting in the month since it was released on September 17.
The previous record is believed to be held by 'Bridgerton,' which was seen by 82M accounts in its first 28 days in late 2020. ‘Squid Game’ has been No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 list in 94+ countries.
For the first time ever, a remote-controlled ocean drone sailed into the eye of a category 4 hurricane to help researchers understand one of the most extreme weather conditions on Earth.
The 'saildrone' was navigated through 50-ft waves and more than 120-mph winds within Hurricane Sam (which never made landfall), on September 30, 2021. Scientists hope to use the data and video footage to learn more about what drives and intensifies hurricanes.
With more information, predictions can become more accurate, and hopefully save lives and coastal communities from hurricanes in the future.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order on Monday that bars COVID-19 vaccine mandates—including ones from private employers or orgs.
The order states: 'No entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccine by any individual, including an employee or a consumer, who objects to such vaccination...'
'...for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19.'
