3' 6" gauge. The Ghan originally operated between Port Augusta and Alice Springs via Quorn. In 1957 the narrow gauge Ghan had been cut back to Marree as the standard gauge had reached Marree.

NT65 was the first of class (13 in all) and was handed over to CR in May of 1965.

I suspect it was a precursor to them
RM47 was a 100 hp Leyland rail motor
(RMs 48 & 49 were 150 hp Winton)
