His fights against Sonny Liston and especially the early Floyd Patterson it was framed as the established conservative whites backing those guys going up against loud mouth Louisville black dude with NOI ties.
Patterson called it a "moral crusade" to beat Ali in '65. Like I said Ali was was hated well before Vietnam lol

Ali did a commercial promoting vaccines in NYC. So no we wouldnt “turn” on him.
Nothing misunderstood about Ali standing for a bigger cause than whatever Kyrie doing. Ali unlike the athletes today, he actually accept whatever consequences that came with his stance and didn't constantly make excuses.
