"They were rocking with Ali until he said he didn't wanna fight in no war." Wrong. The thing is people hated Ali before Vietnam War controversy. Him being outspoken and running with NOI saying he hated white people. There's a whole 4 part doc that goes into that by PBS.
His fights against Sonny Liston and especially the early Floyd Patterson it was framed as the established conservative whites backing those guys going up against loud mouth Louisville black dude with NOI ties.
Patterson called it a "moral crusade" to beat Ali in '65. Like I said Ali was was hated well before Vietnam lol
