This new study is a valuable look at longitudinal changes in COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy is an obstacle to convergence of COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, fewer people are avoiding the vaccine!
It is a small sample size, but the sample size was designed in advance and the sampling was done taking into account the socioeconomic status. Well done!
They collected data over three waves; before the prospect of a vaccine, when a vaccine had been approved for use, and when the UK vaccination program. Vaccination hesitancy rates decreased across the time points.
When the UK vaccination program had been underway for a few weeks(time 3), the impact of conspiracy beliefs on vaccine hesitancy is gone. Thank God!
Six percent were adamantly opposed to vaccination and said nothing would change their minds. It has been reported that attitudes of vaccine opponents can be modified by interventions based on motivational interviewing. #vaccinehesitancy#ph260720
In a survey I conducted in February 2021, before mass vaccination began in Japan, the percentage of vaccine hesitancy was 11%. I hope that percentage is decreasing now. #vaccinehesitancy#ph260720

"Vaccination intention appear to be malleable and change as new information and treatments emerge. It shows that people who are hesitant about vaccination can and do change their minds, and health communication should focus on this issue."– direct quote– see reference above
What do you think about this research? Research on the COVID19 vaccine is important for public health. I hope that more studies like this will be conducted.
