We have been in an abusive relationship with our government and media for 19 months.

@justin_Hart, @dockaurG, & others have pointed this out in the past, but I want to show you it isn’t just hyperbole.

Here’s one example for each (there are so many more). 🧵

1/10 Politics & Ego or Science & Data?

Irwin Redlener has been an influential voice in closing schools, masking students, & pushing for vaccine mandates.

Unsurprisingly, Redlener has a 30 year history of partisan activism, ties to the Clintons, & a desire for media attention. Image
2/10 Redlener has been a key advisor to @AFTunion & Randi Weingarten.

In yesterday’s town hall with @OpenschoolsUS, Redlener seemed unable to debate research & instead excoriated “red states” & “Trump” while ironically saying this shouldn't be political.
3/10 Yet, partisan politics is entirely what Redlener has been involved with throughout his career.

Starting in the early 90s, Redlener organized a group of medical professionals to endorse Bill Clinton's presidential campaign. He has been closely tied with the Clinton’s since. Image

18 months into the pandemic and it is still clear that masking children is an ineffective policy not supported by research or data.

I’ve provided 2 sources for each claim but can offer many more if needed.

I’ve also addressed Delta & recent studies at the end of this 🧵

(1) “our data indicate that children are at far greater risk of critical illness from influenza than from COVID-19.”

(2) “Children and young people remain at low risk from COVID-19 mortality”

(3) “…children are not the main drivers of SARS-CoV-2 transmission.”

(4) Children rarely transmit infection to others and more frequently have an asymptomatic or mild course compared to adults.

I never thought I’d have to reiterate that children are not the primary drivers of covid-19

But I guess the desire to vaccinate kids makes folks like @apoorva_nyc & the @nytimes just give up on honest reporting

It’s complete BS

So here are 30 articles for your review 🧵

Mar 2020: kids have not played a substantive role in the intra-household transmission of Covid
