The mission started fine, but then he was stabbed a few times, drained more of his spiritual energy than he would have liked to, and before he could hop on his sword, YQY insisted they stop for the night.

Fine. LQG is used to settling beneath trees on his way home from long journeys. He takes a rope and tarp from his pouch and starts to make camp when YQY insists that they go to an inn.

Ugh. He forgot that the other peaks liked to travel in extreme comfort.

Fine.

They go to the only inn within walking distance and LQG is embarrassed that he actually feels dead on his feet. YQY negotiates with the innkeeper, LQG watching in a daze as YQY receives only one room with only one bed.

YQY negotiates a little longer, but learns there is no way they can have 2 beds, much less 2 rooms. LQG grunts he doesn’t care and they go upstairs

They open the door to a simple room with *one bed*

LQG and YQY argue over who should get the bed. LQG says he won’t use the bed if YQY can’t, YQY wants a tired/cranky/injured LQG to have it.

They compromise and LQG gets the bed under threat of having to help An Ding for a month.

LQG sneakily watches YQY unbind his hair and get ready for bed. He doesn’t know when his feelings for YQY started. Maybe it had always been there. Maybe it’s because he lost all chances with SQQ.

He turns over on his side away from YQY

LQG wants to think about his feelings later, but that’s hard with YQY’s even breaths, when he knows that YQY sleeps curled on his side like a shrimp.

LQG falls asleep for what feels like only a moment when he hears a quiet ‘shidi’

LQG realizes he’s too warm, that his body is cramping. He must be whining pathetically because he’s being shushed by whoever is holding him.

The qi gently pouring into him feels like tripping into snow.

He feels slightly chilled, but it’s much better than feeling as if he’s burning from the inside.

And being held is kinda nice… the person tries to let him go, but LQG clings onto them. He’s shushed again and the person stays.

Lqg falls asleep

LQG wakes up the next morning with YQY wrapped around him. He shrieks and pushes YQY away. YQY blinks awake and stares at LQG looking thoroughly ruffled on the corner of the bed.

LQG hmphs and dresses for the day,

trying to not think of how nice it was to wake up next to someone. They leave the inn and reach CQM, YQY insisting that LQG go to MQF. LQG hmphs and goes to his own peak. It’s not *technically* a qi deviation unless you’re bleeding from your eyeballs, yeah?

So LQG goes back to Bai Zhan and does LQG things. He’s a little sore still, but he’s otherwise fine.

But when YQY comes to check on him that evening, he feels even worse than yesterday, so he’s dragged to MQF.

Ugh.

YQY hovers over them as MQF checks LQG’s meridians, concluding that it was a qi deviation and LQG is lucky YQY was paying attention.

MQF has LQG stay the night. He suggests YQY stick around since he was able to calm LQG’s meridians down quickly

YQY agrees, brings some work to do while LQG sleeps. But LQG can’t sleep. Not when he remembers how much he likes being held.

He calls out for YQY, who looks panicked until LQG holds his arms open. He’s determined to not look YQY in the face

Bc he’s sure he’ll be rejected. Again. It might be the qi deviation talking, but he wants to TRY.

To his surprise, YQY softly settles next to him and tucks LQG’s head under his chin.

“Is this what you wanted?”

“Mn.”

YQY hums quietly and pulls LQG closer.

“Goodnight, shidi.”

“…’night.”
