Voting in my local elections is a frustrating exercise in figuring out which Republican isn’t QAnon that I can vote for. #RedStateProblems
Lots of replies don’t seem to understand what red states are like.
There are NO independents or Dems running in my local districts.
None. Zip. Nada.
The best use of my vote is to make sure extremists don’t get to hold office.
The funniest part is we moved to rank choice voting for some reason so I literally get to choose which flavor of Republican I find least objectionable on a weird gradient. Sigh.
Just a pro tip for anyone struggling with the same thing. Often there isn’t party affiliation on the ballot for local seats and it may not be super obvious from their candidate website. The easiest way to figure it out is to look up their voter registration records.

This Sunday morning we're asking the age-old question. WHY DOES POSTMASTER DEJOY STILL HAVE A JOB AND WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?
I've answered this question several times previously but it's worth revisiting because some dynamics on the USPS board are shifting.
(THREAD)
(2) If you want to see background on why Biden can't fire DeJoy, you can visit this thread from back in February. Eseentially only the board can remove DeJoy.
And per usual we've got a DINO standing in the way of progress.
(3) We've been bitching about DeJoy for YEARS, but this is coming to a head as strategic changes at the USPS to slow mail delivery and raise prices take effect October 1st.
Western states will see mail delivery slowed to speeds not seen since the 1970s.
(3) Most of the refugees trying to enter the US have been living in South America in encampments for years. Their country has been devastated by hurricanes, earthquakes, political instability, and violent crime.
In today's thread we're taking a peak into the dark corner of the internet that is Facebook. Is anyone trying to do anything about the threats unregulated social media platforms pose?
Is Facebook going to be allowed to continue to poison us with misinformation?
(THREAD)
(2) One of the items Biden's FCC was set to tackle is what to do about tech giants.
After the role Facebook played in disinformation campaigns ahead of the 2016 election, it's clear we have to do something. And anti-trust laws aren't going to cut it.
(3) Facebook knew this moment was coming and tried to position itself for the new era of accountability by suggesting some measures they could impose for better self regulation.
Basically a laundry list of relatively ineffective stuff they already do.
