catluc and wolfkae taking care of their newborn babies💗 a short and sweet fic thread! (short for me at least 🥲)

The piercing cry of an infant already had Diluc rising from bed before he was even awake. His hair was wild around his shoulders, nightgown twisted around his body, and the dark circles under his eyes were becoming more pronounced each day.

The babies were only a few months old, and had no concept of time obviously. And neither did Kaeya and Diluc with how run down they've been feeling, but at the same time, they were so estatic to finally have their own babies.

Diluc still remembered Kaeya absolutely sobbing in happiness as he held the little newborns. They were born as their hybrid animal, but were able to shift into their human form once they were a few months old.

Diluc birthed a grand total of 6 babies, 2 of them were cats like him and 4 were wolves like their father. Kaeya liked the balanced because he knew the wolves would always protect and look after the kittens. The kittens were both boys...

...while there 2 female wolves and 2 male wolves. With this sort of litter, it was already a handful for the first time parents but they were beginning to become used this lifestyle.

Diluc rubbed the sleep from his eyes as the other children stirred. With a litter of six, once one was awake, some were bound to cry as well but others stayed quiet. They were an odd bunch. Before Diluc could rise, he felt his wolf mate sit up next to him.

A hand blindly reached out to soothe over his back, and then he felt a pair of lips on his shoulders. A soft morning kiss that made Diluc smile sleepy, eyes still closed.

"Let me. It's time for their morning feed." Came Kaeya's gruff voice. It must be around 4am in that case.

The babies never failed to wake on their respective cycles. Diluc didn't have the energy to retort, so he only hummed while his husband got up from their bed. His eyes opened to follow the man's figure, towering over the large bassinet next to their bed.

The fondest smile caressed Kaeya's as he picked up little Rosie, the one wolf left in her animal form. The other wolf hybrids had shifted already, but the two boy kittens have yet to turn as well but Diluc's suspected it's only a matter of time.

Rosie's coat matched Diluc's hair, hence her given name. Kaeya cradled her carefully in his large hands, her yips becoming excited as she was carefully transferred to Diluc. She was definitely hungry, but Kaeya would need to prepare her bottle. In her animal form...

...Diluc could not breastfeed her yet.

His tail slowly flickered as he pulled it to the side of him, and laid the wolf down on the fluffy fur. Rosie immediately cuddled up, and latched onto Diluc's pinky when he offered it. Something to hold her over until her meal was ready.

"How are the others?" Diluc whispered.

Kaeya picked up Caelus, a wolf hybrid who had managed to shift into his human form just a week ago. The boy's ears twitched restlessly as he cuddled up into Kaeya's firm chest, his soft whines audible. "Fast asleep..."

Kaeya murmured. He rhythmically patted Caelus's back, and swayed gently back and forth. "Seems it's just these two. I'll go get Rosie's bottle."

Diluc smiled gently as Kaeya kissed his forehead, and departed downstairs to fix Rosie her bottle. Diluc had pumped the day before...

...but he would need to do more soon. He was left with Rosie suckling at his pinky while he very gently rolled the bassinet closer to him. He peered down at his four other children, laughing softly when he saw one of the boy kitten's sprawled against his wolf brother's chest.

They all loved to cuddled, much like Diluc and him. Kaeya was back quickly with Rosie's bottles, and they traded babies. Kaeya fed Rosy, her soft gulps eager while Caelus fussed a bit too latch onto his breast. "He's been doing that a lot lately..." Diluc murmured.

Diluc switched Caelus to his other breast which seemed more plump, and finally the boy grabbed on. A chubby hand gripped his index finger tight. He sighed in relief while Kaeya chuckled, "He's a bit picky huh?"

"Like someone I know." Diluc teased back.

They sat silently together, both gazing at their children with utmost adoration and pride. They managed to create such wonderful little beings.

Diluc hummed softly as Caelus began to fuss again, and managed to calm him right down. Even Rosy took to his soft humming.

They both fell asleep with full bellies, and didn't stir an inch when laid down again. Diluc made sure to peck each of their foreheads, Kaeya leading him back into bed after. "Come, let's sleep before they wake again."

Diluc didn't need to be told twice. Kaeya spooned him from behind, tucking them as close as possible together as they heard their babies gurgles and happy sighs. It was the perfect lullaby for them both to fall asleep to in between quiet I love yous.
