Of note, A HOLIDAY IN HARLEM is the official title for the movie that filmed as CHRISTMAS IN HARLEM and Will Adams is Olivia Washington's co-star in the Connecticut-shot movie directed by Keith Powell.
Somewhat oddly, they aren't showing the SISTER SWAP movies on consecutive nights, but one week apart. SISTER SWAP: A HOMETOWN HOLIDAY, Kimberly Williams-Paisley's story, Dec. 5, and then SISTER SWAP: CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY, Ashley Williams' story, Dec. 12.
And solving the mystery of why Nikki DeLoach seemed to be filming before CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS began is…DeLoach producing KEEPS, but starring in FIVE MORE MINUTES, which *is* holiday and shockingly they didn't change the name.
Ashley Newbrough (instagram.com/ashleynewbroug…), Ryan Rottman and Christa Allen (instagram.com/christaallen/) star in CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS and have shared some on-set snaps from the now-filming movie developed by Nikki DeLoach and Megan McNulty.
Also interesting that SUGAR PLUM TWIST will debut on streamer Hallmark Movies Now, in lieu of linear cable
Meaning the 41 total breaks down as…
30-Hallmark Channel
9-Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
2-Hallmark Movies Now
…with no Friday, Dec. 17 movie on HC
Another tidbit, instead of daily movie debuts during Thanksgiving week, they're doubling up and debuting two movies per night, at 6 and 8 PM ET, on Hallmark Channel Friday, Saturday and Sunday. NINE KITTENS OF CHRISTMAS will bow on Thanksgiving Day, as only non-weekend premiere.
That means on Saturday, Nov 27, Hallmark will debut 3️⃣ new movies…
6 PM: MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT (Taylor Cole & Carlo Marks), HC
8 PM: CHRISTMAS AT CASTLE HART (Lacey Chabert & Stuart Townsend), HC
10 PM: TIME FOR THEM TO COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS (Jessy Schram & Brendan Penny), HMM
This also means ZERO acquisitions for Hallmark for the first time ever. They made/are making 41 new, original Christmas movies amidst an ongoing global pandemic. following fairly significant executive turnover. New programming EVP Lisa Hamilton Daly just began last month.
Wow🤯
Two I missed…Knew A ROYAL QUEENS CHRISTMAS was filming, but hadn't clocked it as for Hallmark, and while had heard some FIVE MORE MINUTES might-be-holiday rumors, my confusion over DeLoach's CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS involvement kept me from seeing connections
So, looking more closely…There is a CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS, but it's not at all about a family farm, and according to Hallmark, FIVE MORE MINUTES, based on the Scotty McCreery song, IS movie developed by DeLoach and McNulty. Very confused since title came from McNulty's website 🤷♀️
Oh and, forgot to note, release also confirmed that Merritt Patterson's GINGERBREAD MIRACLE will now air on November 5th, with OPEN BY CHRISTMAS in the November 12th spot.
Well, might be the Hallmark press release that's confused about which project Megan McNulty and Nikki DeLoach wrote. McNulty confirmed via social media that she and DeLoach wrote CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS, though movie DeLoach is starring in is FIVE MORE MINUTES
Obviously, there are a lot more TBAs than they have listed here, but it's pretty decent list of what we know so far.
The volume, even leaving out BET's 8 movies for some reason, along with more niche streaming services (though FOX Nation included), continues to astonish even me
My current movie total for broadcast and streaming debuts is 1️⃣6️⃣3️⃣ new Christmas movies for 2021, and that's without including all the VOD/DVD options and indies on Amazon Prime, nor all the specials, series, etc.
In case anyone wondered where Ashley Williams, and pal Nikki DeLoach, stand on diversity, this is Williams' response to bigots ridiculously calling her G-rated SISTER SWAP: CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY movie, "not family-friendly."
By the way, my goal wasn't to get attention of any of actors, just expose the hate.
It's not even clear what these folks object to in very family-friendly photos Hallmark posted. Is it that Williams co-star is of another race? Two guys ice skating? Women's ankles being exposed?
Representation matters isn't slogan. Proven time and again that diversity in entertainment changes hearts and minds, especially in insular communities—exactly why folks are terrified about loss of TV "safe space." What if they see how wrong they've been?
Also shot in Chicago, A PRIVATE EYE CHRISTMAS, starring Vivica A Fox and Michelle Borth, now known as THE CHRISTMAS THIEF, and set to air December 5th.
Someone sent me this and I'm sharing in case there was any confusion at all about crowd GAC is catering to…These are their biggest fans.
Look at photos from SISTER SWAP: CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY yourself. Nothing even CLOSE to objectionable in ANY of them: hallmarkchannel.com/sister-swap-ch…
Previously blurred names, but why give bigots courtesy they don't deserve when proudly posting in public forum? This person monetizes their blog from (at least) affiliate links, so maybe consider whether you want to support that hate with your clicks.
Nobody deserves space space where their bigotry is catered to. You don't get to close your eyes and pretend people you dislike or disapprove of don't exist. True faith would want no part of hate, and these people are a very vocal, yet very tiny, minority.
Haven't been following as closely (just burned out), so Hallmark movies haven't learned leads of are just-wrapped A VERY MERRY BRIDESMAID, plus now-filming EIGHT GIFTS OF LOVE and A GODWINK CHRISTMAS: MIRACLE OF LOVE. Also don't know Nikki DeLoach's co-star in CHRISTMAS FOR KEEPS
Still 2 movies for season unaccounted for (1 if Hallmark goes back and counts CRASHING THROUGH THE SNOW among their 41). Beginning to run out of time for additional shoots, so thinking might see some acquisitions, perhaps THE PICTURE OF CHRISTMAS and/or CHRISTMAS IN TRINKET TOWN?
Just speculation. One would think—a.k.a. it would make sense—with Countdown to Christmas starting tomorrow, Hallmark would release their final schedule today, but, yeah, who knows at this point? Someone does, obviously. Just saying, I am not that someone.
