We’re going to have a serious, systemic public health challenge even after the pandemic. People are now finding purpose & identity in not just ignoring public health guidance & medical advice, but actively doing the opposite just to beat their chests.
We’re weakening ourselves.
When a Congressman tells the country not to trust the FDA, he attacks a key piece of our national security; as when he says not to trust the military.
He’s saying don’t trust America. Institutions built by Americans, staffed with Americans to serve Americans. It’s just awful.
It is one thing to criticize an institution; to reform it; to even get rid of it in favor of an alternative approach. Nothing is perfect and we should always improve things.
But questioning the motivations & aims of these institutions; making them enemies—that’s an attack on us.
Any red-blooded American knows the difference between constructive advocacy and destructive attack—and too many have willfully crossed that line to prey on the fear for gain. It’s un-American, it’s harming us, and it’s going to sink us if we don’t stop it.

I’ll probably never run for office, but if I ever did—my radical idea would be to pay in-classroom teachers $100,000, lengthen the school year, & treat educators like professionals by hiring/firing on merit.
Good teachers create WAY more economic & societal value than we pay.
For perspective, the average teacher salary in Texas is just $59k…
Other ideas:
—Reduce admin staff by 10%
—Tie principal & superintendent compensation to school/district performance improvement; same hire/fire rules apply
—Allow for student funneling/specialization earlier in the K12 cycle.
—Radical transparency on district performance & budget
Let’s be clear what happened here: Basically, once Trump realized he couldn’t keep secret his support for and coordination of the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol, he just decided to embrace it and call it a protest.
So now, every R will have to either embrace Jan 6 as a valid form of protesting a “stolen” election (as Trump now has) or condemn it as wrong.
Their line has changed so many times. First: Antifa. Then: wrong, but not an insurrection. Then: bad apples but the police let them in.
These are unserious people who are trying to come up with any line that will allow them to stay in good graces with an increasingly deranged base while speaking through the mainstream channels of normal society and institutions.
Look, I’ve been a harsh critic of Trump and Trumpism—but he is absolutely right about this, guys...
Stay home, Republicans. Listen to Trump. Don’t vote. We need to get this sorted out. If your Congressman or Senator is big MAGA, just don’t bother pulling the lever for them.
We need to make sure every Trumper out there hears Trump’s message: DO NOT VOTE.
The leader has spoken. Will you follow? Are you MAGA? Do you have the courage to not vote? Or are you just a big Lib?
We need both parties to come together behind this message. We need mailers and ads with Trump’s words and likeness sent to every MAGA-voting household in the country to be certain they know what Trump is urging.
Seriously, if you’re not running for office to tell the truth on things as simple as whether the election was “stolen” or not—get the hell off the stage and stop wasting people’s time.
I don’t care how many hedge funds you owned. If you don’t admit the election result was fair and square, you don’t deserve to be heard as a public leader on anything else.
This is not getting enough attention. I jokingly predicted (1) Boebert would use a very simple sign calling for Biden to exit the presidency and (2) that she would misspell a very simple word on said sign in doing so.
She has now done both the very next day after my prediction.
Perhaps it just isn’t that remarkable because this type of thing was simply too predictable from Boebert.
But, still... in the universe of dumb things a member of Congress like Boebert *could* do, I completely nailed the one she actually did.
Game on. You don’t have to be a “Cheney/Bush Republican” to know which side of this fault line to stand on—and it’s past time to be counted. Rally with the decent & help beat back the orange scourge. 🇺🇸
If you’ve been disillusioned, or homeless or wanted to engage but didn’t know how—this is it.
Pour yourself into helping Liz win her primary. It’s winnable, it’s worth it & it’ll send a loud message. You don’t have to agree on everything—just the big thing: truth still matters.
