Time for another lesson in north germanic food supremacy, folks. This, time we'll be talking about why the perfidious english may be proud of figuring out how to mash potatoes, but only THE NORD has discovered the secrets of mashing potatoes the right way.
The dish pictured is called "Rotmos med fläsklägg", which translates into "ham hock with beet mash". It's one of my favorite dishes from my childhood, and it truly shows you the ingenuity of north germanic cooking.
In this dish, ham hock is boiled with carrots, allspice (this giant of nordic cuisine, the best spice in the world) and onions until ready to eat. But then, the carrots, rutabaga, and potatoes are added to the broth from the ham hock and boiled until soft.
You then prepare mashed potatoes, except with a bunch of root vegetables added to the potatoes. The saltiness of the ham, the mild sweetness of the mashed roots, and the fiery tang of the Scanian mustard all combine to form a positively sublime dish!
Imagine being a muslim and not being able to eat this. Just imagine. I won't, because I couldn't live without rotmos and fläsklägg. Just another example of why north germanic food is the best food in the world.

Everyone going "we need to go to war against China over Taiwan if it comes to that, folks we have to stand up for what's right!" just befuddle me at this point.

Put aside nuclear weapons for a moment. Will the US actually survive a military defeat here, politically?
The current US has all the factors that turned Russia into such a mess and plunged it into a revolution in spades. In some ways, those red lights on the panel are actually worse today than in 1916.
Though a war where millions of conscripts die is obviously unlikely, war over Taiwan would seriously disrupt the global economy and plunge the continental US into rationing and hunger. If the generals then mishandle the war in the eyes of the population, hoo boy.

Yeah this is one part of the story. The russian revolutionaries had a hell of a time not just broadcasting everything they did to the secret police.

But the other part of the story is that the secret police really can't do much against normal, non-political people.
In the latter case, the job of the Okhrana wasn't to arrest every fishmonger's wife in Moscow, but to write reports about the general mood in the population, as food shortages got worse and worse and worse. And these were good reports!
You see them accurately forecasting the coming revolution, pointing out its causes, and telling you who will actually bring that revolution about: ordinary moms, tired of watching their kids starve in front of them. In the last months, the reports are extremely insistent.

Did you know that this guy was a "glowie", in the parlance of our times?

German military intelligence (the Abwehr) approached Adolf Hitler and asked him to infiltrate the German Worker's Party (DAP, Deutsches Arbeiterpartei) in order to keep tabs on the german far right.
Well, it turns out Hitler really *did* infiltrate the DAP. The mission was a success! In fact, he was so good at it that the leadership quickly recognized that this Hitler guy really had talent, maybe *he* should be the new leader of the party?
To use an example from the opposite side of the fence, after the October Revolution, the Bolshevik leadership finally has access to the records of the Okhrana (tsarist secret police). In an anecdote that is probably apocryphal, Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky go through them.

Bro this has ALWAYS been an american problem, and the use of amerikaner is limited to a small online rightwing subculture.

Normies in minnesota still say theyre swedish though.
At some point an asian-looking woman posted on here where she began "as a german..." and it went viral among the online American right. Oh my god look at how far the rot has gone in EVROPA!!! Holy crap!!!

But this is actually how things work here. That's what ethnos means.
Germans had a huge race riot in eastern Germany after some afghan refugees stabbed a german. East german boomers were out in the street, howling for blood. The german in question was from Cuba, lol.

Tucker Carlson recently made the point on his show that the only real claim to legitimacy left for liberalism now is consumerism. Take away that, and you have a regime without any claim to legitimate rule.

The supply chains aren't going to be restored for *years*.
And while papers are going to write about Wal-mart not having enough christmas trees or whatever, behind the scenes, farmers will go broke over lack of spare parts for their machines, and companies will go out of business due to these disruptions, plunging people into povertry.
This is an incredibly serious crisis, far worse than the GFC, because it's not just a problem of capital formation and allocation, but the physical infrastructure we depend on not working properly. That will itself have huge implications for capital formation and allocation too.

I'm not convinced this conversion to pacifism is going to last. First of all, there's the fact that the postwar era of Europe being client to two outside empires is ending. Europeans in general will probably go back to what they do best - kill each other.
Moreover, on some level I think at least some people in swedish society are genuinely afraid of a more violent world possibly lying in the future, not because it'd be horrible, but because they might end up liking it a bit too much.
Swedish culture may seem laid-back on the surface, but it has a very hard, conformist edge. Very similar to Japan, with the exception that no swede will ever tell you when you break the rules.

Does anyone think the japanese would have much difficulty adapting back to warfare?
