Tennessee State Senator Brian Kelsey, who was indicted this week in campaign finance conspiracy, was once president of the Federalist Society and interned in the White House Counsel’s Office under President George W. Bush. He was hired for the job by now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
he was president of the Federalist Society and interned in the White House Counsel’s Office under President George W. Bush. He was hired for the job by now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh. More recently, he has served on the board of the Memphis Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society
Kavanaugh had been hired into the Bush WH Counsel’s Office by Alberto Gonzales to advise on the Enron scandal. And both Kavanaugh and Gonzales had previously worked for law firms who paid large settlements for their role in the Enron fraud.
I mention Alfa Bank’s relationship to Kirkland and Ellis here, because Alfa Bank is reportedly a mob operation who has been involved with drug trafficking and money laundering since the early 1990s.
And I mention Reza Zarrab’s relationship to Kirkland and Ellis here because of his cash-for-gold Iranian sanctions evasion scheme, which involved Putin-connected “businessmen” Ekim Alptekin and Dmitry Zaikin.
In 2005, Kirkland and Ellis paid $5.2 million to settle their liability for setting up offshore shell companies through which Enron laundered money and committed accounting fraud.
Kavanaugh was hired into the Bush WH Counsel’s Office by Alberto Gonzales who had followed Dubya to the WH from the Texas governor’s office. But before that, he worked for Vinson and Elkins, who paid $30 million to settle their involvement with aiding & abetting the Enron fraud.
In 1993, Enron entered into a business agreement with Russian state gas company Gazprom, which has many links to Semion Mogilevich and organized crime. This agreement was signed by Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin.
In the early 1990s, Chernomyrdin had secretly decreed that he wanted to make Russia a narcotics hub for drugs produced in Latin America and Central Asia.
This report of Russian leadership intentionally working to become a narcotics trafficking hub is corroborated by multiple sources. Litvinenko says that rogue KGB agents working for Alfa Bank had settled on a similar goal.
And under Cheney’s leadership, Halliburton was doing large projects with Alfa Group, the reported narcotics trafficking and money laundering enterprise.
So just to clarify: 1. Cheney did business with the Russian mob. 2. Enron did business with the Russian mob. 3. Kirkland and Ellis did business with the Russian mob. 4. Kirkland and Ellis did business with Enron. 5. Kavanaugh worked for Kirkland and Ellis.
6. Then Kavanaugh worked for Cheney. 7. Brian Kelsey worked for Kavanaugh while Kavanugh worked for Cheney. 8. And Brian Kelsey worked for Cheney.
Get it yet? Need I go on?
Do you get that this isn’t hyperbole? They’ve been selling public policy to hostile foreign adversaries and global organized crime for decades.
There is a clear link between illicit trade and other types of crime, such as human trafficking, drug trafficking, corruption, bribery and money laundering.
Illicit trade damages the global economy and harms public health worldwide. All regions of the world and all industry sectors are affected.
Under the guidance of Richard Cheney, a get-the-government-out-of-my-face conservative, Halliburton Company over the past five years has emerged as a corporate welfare hog, benefiting from at least $3.8 billion in federal contracts and taxpayer-insured loans.
One of these loans was approved in April by the U.S. Export-Import Bank.
Yesterday, I did an in-depth thread on one of the first stories to emerge from the Pandora Papers leak, @OCCRP’s article about Kazakhstan’s former president Nursultan Nazarbayev, mysterious shell companies linked to his former aides, & the $30 million paid to his third wife.
But let’s start this new thread to analyze the potential significance of the Nursultan Nazarbayev revelations and how they connect to some of the other significant stories that we’ve been following.
The recent release of the final volume of the Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian 2016 election interference and two new lawsuits by Russia’s Alfa Bank have brought back into the spotlight the puzzling lack of an explanation…
…for the mysterious communications between the bank and the Trump Organization during the last presidential campaign.
