This year YIMBY Action is having TWO big end of the year parties in California, featuring some of the amazing legislators who are making housing policy change possible.

Here are the top 10 reasons you should come...

10) You'll run into people you know from Housing Twitter and realize they're pretty awkward IRL and it will be strangely endearing. (Yes, you should DM this tweet to someone you're thinking of right now.)
9) Speaking of Housing Twitter idols, Senator @Scott_Wiener, @DavidChiu, Mayor @LondonBreed, and Assemblymember @QuirkSilva65th will be among those toasting all the YIMBY movement has accomplished - and the hard work ahead!
8) It's literally the only place right now where you can purchase a NIMBY Tears mug. We'll probably have them online at some point, but if you want to be sure you can get your mother a slightly passive aggressive Christmas present in time, grab your ticket now!
7) So many hardworking Volunteer Leads from YIMBY Action Chapters will be there, like @S4PBayArea, @SouthBayYIMBY, @penforeveryone, @SFyimby, @yimbyeastbay, @UrbanEnviroCA, @HousingOC, @MVyimby, @NNeighborsD2, @growtherichmond, @SouthsideForwrd and more!!!
6) Don't you just miss parties in general? Yes, these are outdoors, but they will be super cute. You get to freak out about what you're gonna wear! It's like going back in time...

Seriously tho. What are you gonna wear to an outdoor, urbanist, fancyish party?
5) If you're new to YIMBY, you'll be at a party of people who literally think new people are cool. If you're pro-housing and wanting to meet new friends, this is the party for you!
4) Have you checked out that VIP list? You could end up chatting with @cw4emeryville, @alex_lee, @loridroste, @TaplinTerry... Oh my god I'm freaking out. Seriously WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR.

3) We had some hard-fought victories this year, but there is so much work to do. We've changed the conversation about housing, but overturning systems that perpetuate systemic racism and climate change doesn't happen overnight.

Come fill your cup, both literally and emotionally.
2) You'll get to gossip about what's coming up next in the politics of housing. Fourplex ballot props, upcoming state legislation, federal funding, State Legislature races, Housing Element Enforcement... You'll hear it at our parties first!
1) You love supporting the YIMBY movement! Come hang!

SB10 is being heard on the assembly floor now! SB10 is a local control bill that would allow local governments to rezone for missing middle homes, without having to go through a lengthy and expensive rezoning process.
We heard comments in support of the bill from @Ash_Kalra, @BuffyWicks, and @Tim4Assembly. No comments from the opposition.
@Ash_Kalra @BuffyWicks @Tim4Assembly And now we're waiting with a lot of members not voting. We need to get to 41 ayes to pass.

We call for an end to the eviction of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah.

People should be able to live where they want, irrespective of their race, religion, or other factors.

Nahalat Shimon, a U.S.-based settler organization, is trying to have Palestinians evicted. Once they are evicted, the property would then be turned over to Jewish settlers under Israeli law. They would get nothing to ease their displacement.
In addition to these evictions and others of the same kind, the Israeli government refuses to grant building permits to Palestinians in the occupied territories who seek to build themselves homes.

Just getting started in Cupertino to hear about the SB35-potential project, turning an abandoned old mall into almost 3,000 units of housing!

Watch on YouTube, and we'll be tweeting here...
Public Comment will be 3 minutes each.

"Never before has density and the type of development been so relevant to elections."

Speaker advocates to not make a decision until after November 6th. Good reminder to vote for pro-housing candidates!
