Religious fault lines in Tripura have been getting sharper due to political dynamics that have been developing in the state since the BJP took office in 2018.
A new element has been introduced into the equation by the attempts of the Trinamool Congress from neighbouring West Bengal to expand its footprint into Tripura.

Local Tripura SDPO is now officially saying a VHP protest rally of around 3,500 people was organised in Panisagar. “A section of VHP activists at the rally ransacked a mosque in the Chamtilla area.
"Later, three houses and three shops were ransacked and two shops set on fire in the Rowa Bazar area, around 800 yards away from the first incident,” the official said."

The Bajrang Dal leader from Panisagar is claiming they were just protesting and is saying local muslim youths standing in front of a mosque instigated the violence "hurling abuses at us. They were armed with dao and other weapons. They chanted Pak Zindabad and religious slogans."
A 36-year-old pregnant woman, who was bleeding and in severe pain, travelled from one health centre to another, before breathing her last at her third destination, about 150 km away from her home
"At least 5-6 pregnant tribal women have died due to complications related to pregnancy in the past one month. Also, there are many unreported cases,” said Vivek Pandit, the chairperson of Tribal Development Review Committee of Maharashtra government."
