In 2014, Kobe Bryant invested $6M in sports drink company Body Armour.

Today, Coca-Cola bought the company for $5.6B, which will net his family up to $500M.

Here's the story:
In 2011 Bodyarmour was founded by Mike Repole and Lance Collins in Queens, NY.

Mike and Lance both had extensive experience in the beverage world.

Lance had already founded Fuze and Nos.

Mike, Vitamin Water & Smart Water.
The two set out to create a sports drink that was healthier than what was currently on the market.

They saw a trend in consumers moving to healthier options and took their knowledge and expertise to capitalize on it.
Mike and Lance knew from the start that athlete endorsements would be a fast track to getting their products in the hands of consumers.

It could establish credit and social proof quickly and that is what they set out to achieve.

They knew Kobe would be the perfect athlete.
After getting Kobe onboard, the list of endorsed athletes include:

Naomi Osaka, Andrew Luck, Baker Mayfield, Mike Trout, Rob Gronkowski Klay Thompson, Skylar Diggins,Sydney Leroux and Ryan Blaney.

Bodyarmour is also the official drink of the Los Angeles Angels.
In 2014, Kobe Bryant started to think about his role outside of the NBA.

He wanted to invest in businesses and so he set up Kobe Inc.

He wanted to be more than just an endorsed athlete, he wanted equity.

His first investment was BodyArmour, where he invested $6M.
The Bodyarmour investment was a home run.

Kobe made $323M from the NBA during his 20 year career.

This one deal almost doubles that.

Sara Blakely sold @SPANX today for $1.2B

SPANX was stared with just $5,000 and never took any investor money.

Here's the story of how she did it, and how several men almost killed it 👇
Sara graduated college with plans to become an attorney.

But those plans were quickly derailed when she kept receiving low scores on her LSAT test (the test taken to get into U.S. law schools).

So Sara took a job a Disney World as a ride reader.
After the Disney World stint, Sara took a job selling fax machines.

Sara found some success in selling the fax machines and was eventually promoted to national sales trainer at age 25.

She didn't know it at the time, but the skill developed here were crucial to launching SPANX.
