Retired basketball player and Quezon City 3rd district Coun. Franz Pumaren on entering politics: I'm an accidental politician. We have roots in Quezon City.
Pumaren is running for congressman in the same district in the 2022 polls.
RELATED: The 2022 elections will showcase a number of athletes gunning for national and local posts. While some have long had political careers, others are making their first foray into politics.
Pumaren: My track record will speak for itself, that's why I'm still here.
The basketball coach serves as Quezon City councilor for six terms.
Pumaren: Leadership is a job. Public service is a dedication.
Pumaren's plans if elected as congressman in 2022 polls: What I'm doing right now is just like in Congress. My programs are related to Pangkabuhayan, Pangkalusugan, Paaral, at Pabahay.
Pumaren is the majority floor leader of the Quezon City Council.
Retired cager and former Pasig City Rep. Dodot Jaworski on why his father former Sen. Robert Jaworski won in the 1998 polls: He was very popular. At the end of the day, it's a matter of trying to make people believe you are worthy of the trust that they can give you as a leader.
Jaworski on working with his father: He studied well and passed legislations that up to this day are still useful in our society.
Jaworski on entering politics: My dad always told us that whatever we have is because of the love of people for him. It's our duty to give back to the people.
Jaworski: Politics is all about relationships. You have to build the trust of the people and listen to their problems while coming up with solutions.
Pasig vice mayoral aspirant Jaworski reflects on his political comeback: I was a latecomer in the game. If there's one thing that I realized, the people that I have helped in the past remember the good deeds you've done. The support is very overwhelming.
Pumaren: The pandemic made me see the whole picture that people need a good voice to represent the district.
Jaworski says his father is battling a blood disorder with an unknown cause: We have sought the help of doctors here and abroad. There have been no particular diagnosis on what is wrong with him, we ask for prayers to find cure for him.
Jaworski: I have no plans of going back to politics, but Mayor Vico (Sotto) asked me to help him as his running mate.
