TUESDAY #COVID19Colorado update

Headline: More of the same. Which ain't that good. Some (early mind you) suggestion that hospitalization rise is slowing, if just a tad

HOSPITALIZATIONS
covid+ ONLY

Today: 1254 (up 18)
Last week: 1187

(slower than last week jumps)

#9news Image
POSITIVITY

Still in mid 8s

(One day was close to 10) Image
CASES

7 day over 2600

(during the summer we were around 300) Image
What's it all mean?

Remains a pivotal week.

Need this rate increase to continue to slow w/patients.

Take care
One more thing

DEATHS

Close to 22 a day in latest graph (Don't use last few days as guide... death reports can take time to come in) Image

Hey all...

So... @CDPHE is going to be updating the news nerds like me about what's going on with COVID in Colorado right now

It's a pretty critical time...

I'll update with some of the more pressing details below

WEDNESDAY #COVID19Colorado update

Headline: As state ramps up its hospital transfer protocol, patient load continues to build.

HOSPITALIZATIONS
covid+ ONLY:

Today: 1280 (up 26)
Last week: 1191

Not as optimistic as yesterday that this is slowing

#9news Image
CASES

Dipped a little... But hard to say with short-term data. Still over 2500 per day in 7-day

Elevated for sure. Not likely to result in hospital dip anytime soon Image
POSITIVITY

Headed down a smidge. Now below 8 1/2 in 7 day Image

THREAD

Pay attention to the central/Rocky Mountain region of US

Why? Because this is where growth is happening w/COVID right now.

And, yeah, there's a pattern here.

See if you can see it.

THREAD

Wanna walk you through something I feel is critical right now as state deals with yet another COVID wave

If you or someone you know is 70+, pay attention.

(This centers around question I just asked @GovofCO)

1/
First... Clearly Colorado is in a tough spot.

One of the worst waves in the country right now

Look at hospitalizations. Headed in the wrong direction.

Now in our 2nd worst wave

2/ Image
What's driving this?

Well, clearly, most people ending up in hospitals, even today, are UNVACCINATED

This is latest figure from state

BUT there's more

QUICK THREAD

So... @uchealth is doing a good job of reporting day-in-the-life data of what it's seeing in its hospitals

Here is where you can find the data

(this is what I hope @CDPHE will soon start to do as well... easy to read, easy to understand)

uchealth.org/today/covid-19…
These numbers represent UCHealth facilities ONLY

Looks like this latest wave will soon be 2nd biggest.

(these numbers are from late last week)
I love this graphic (not the content of it, obviously, but how it's presented)

Basics:
Vaccinated make up...
17% of hospitalized
14% of ICU cases
13% of vents

Just in -- @GovofCO announces 914 hospitalizations in state right now (up 19 from yesterday)

155 are vaccinated

16 people under age of 18

72K Coloradans have received booster
Quick aside

Scott Bookman has a cow over his shoulder.

I say this for no other reason than I need a cow looking over my shoulder too .
