Historical #minimoni #minjoon au where young lord Namjoon is courting and writing letters to the daughter of a senior nobleman in the royal council. Everything is going smoothly until they meet up and it turns out that her letters were written entirely by Jimin, a lowly scribe.
Namjoon is excited, the lovely bright and energetic young lady he has been writing to for the past six months had finally agreed to meet with him. He has paced the entirety of his study and completed several laps of his library in nervousness. He had not yet met her in person+
and had only caught a glimpse of her when his father had pointed her out across a ceremony courtyard all those months ago.

Admittedly, Namjoon leaned more towards a male companion and was not particularly taken by her initial appearance, but with the letters, +
his heart had grown fond and yearned for the other that was so intelligent and interested in their shared topics.

The thought of having a witty and well spoken partner for the rest of his days outweighed any discomfort Namjoon felt at the idea of copulating with a female. +
The hour of the young lady’s arrival drew closer and Namjoon’s personal aides, Seokjin and Yoongi hurried him towards his chambers to change into a more respectable outfit.

His two hyungs had been with him for as long as he could remember and they had +
become close friends over servants. The two men lived together in a small house further into the city but still close enough. Namjoon had always suspected there to be a thing between the two but nothing romantic or even sలxual had ever transpired between the two, just peaceful +
cohabitation at its finest. It was the type of partnership that Namjoon longed for with his future spouse if their sలxualities did not align.

And hopefully that would be the case, as his two hyungs prepared Namjoon for the meeting, he could feel the nervousness of the +
initial meeting fade and the excitement of the prospect of finally having a face to face conversation rise.

There was only so much emotion that could be achieved through writing and, though Namjoon tried his best to portray his feelings, +
there was always a little bit left unsaid. And Namjoon wanted to know it all, the nuances of how they talked, the contained excitement when comparing literature and the subtle wonder at the world around them. +
All these things that they had bonded over, Namjoon wanted to hear again.

After being thoroughly pampered and made up, Namjoon made his way towards the central courtyard of his families hanok in Bukchon. The councilman, and thus the young lady, lived closer to +
Gyeongbok palace, which no more than a 20 minute walk carriage ride.

The matter of their close proximity had made Namjoon’s heart ache many times but the young lady had made it very clear in her letters that she wished the communicated via written word first before they met +
and Namjoon, ever the gentleman, was sure it was a matter of chastity and agreed to the request.

And truth be told, Namjoon was glad for this in the end as he wished for a returning letter almost as soon as he had sent his own, waiting on edge every time they received post. +
But now the wait was finally over as the large wooden doors to the courtyard opened and a small procession made their way through. Namjoon caught sight of a distinct and out of place flash of blond hair before it was concealed by a hood and led away with the other servants. +
Turning his attention back to the councilman and his family as they stepped down from the carriages, Namjoon noticed the young lady was particularly nervous as well. She kept fidgeting and glancing between her father, her mother and Namjoon. +
Catching her eye, Namjoon listen an eyebrow and the young lady had an almost frightened expression on her face before she looked down, the model of a perfect noble daughter.

Odd.

Already she was acting nothing like she had in the letters but then again +
they were in the presence of their families and such talkativeness from her part would be frowned upon.

As their parents departed towards a tea room, Namjoon, his hyungs, the young lady and her two aides (one being the hooded servant Namjoon spotted earlier), made their way +
to one of the inner gardens in a separate secluded courtyard in the house. This one was more private and would be away from prying eyes and ears who might listen in and blab on the young lady’s upbeat and controversial nature. +
As they settled around a small wooden table under a canopy, their aides stood some distance away, Namjoon tired to the young lady, excited to make formal acquaintance.

Before he could open his mouth, the young lady spoke first. +
“I’m afraid I haven’t been very truthful to you in our letters.” She starts. “I only say this as I suspect you hold similar beliefs to me however if not we can depart now, forgetting this ever happened.”

Namjoon frowned, confused by what she he’d just said. +
“What do you mean similar beliefs?” He asked.

The young lady glanced briefly toward Namjoon’s hyungs, who were stood closer together than respectable for servants. The two men shuffled apart and looked away from the lady’s gaze.
“Correct me if I’m wrong,” she continued, voice now hushed so even Namjoon was straining to hear her words, “but you would prefer a male partner over a female like I?”

Namjoon stilled at her words. Something in her eyes urged him to nod an affirmative +
despite the fatal consequences if someone overheard. However the young lady just breathed a sigh of relief and sat back, beckoning her two aides to step forwards.

“I say this as I have not been the one who has been writing to you these past months.” +
Namjoon raises his eyebrows yet again at this new revelation.

The young lady gestures to the hooded figure next to her, “this is my scribe Jimin, he is an outcast, the child of one of my uncles concubines, but more of a brother to me than any by blood.”+
Jimin lifts his hood away from his face and Namjoon’s breath is taken away by the pure grace and beauty before him. The blond hair he had caught sight of before glistens like spun gold in the sunlight and cautious yet intelligent eyes stare back at him. +
“And this,” the young lady continues, “is my personal aide.” And she wraps an arm around the lady in waiting’s waist, a far too intimate action for any except lovers, hidden from all except Namjoon by the women’s clothes.

At last Namjoon understands the true nature +
of their arrangement.

“Jimin is the one who has been writing to you almost everyday.” The young lady explained as she kept an arm around her lovers waist. “At first it was just to transcribe my words under my fathers insistence, but the letters quickly become his words alone.” +
This time it was Jimin himself who spoke up with a soft angelic voice, “my lady always suspected something but we couldn’t risk meeting before we had some sort of confirmation.”

Namjoon thinks back to a letter he had sent a few days ago where he had explained with fond +
sentiment his hyungs relationship and his desire to have a similar one of his own. Now does he think about it, he can clearly see how he was not subtle in his desire for a male partner over a female.

“So that’s why you wished to meet now.” Namjoon states. “But why +
come to me now?”

The three guests share a look.

“Because we are running out of time.” The young lady answers with a sigh. “My father demands I be married off immediately. He claims I am nothing but a drain to his gold and would rather put me to use for making sons +
for some nobleman right away.” Her lover wraps a comforting arm around her shoulders in support.

“And we hoped that by coming to some sort of arrangement between us, we could sort something out.” Jimin finishes.+
Namjoon nods along. “And so you hope that by marrying me in name you will pacify your father without the need to give yourself to me in body?”

“Yes, you really are our last hope.” The young lady was adamant now, almost forgetting to keep a hushed voice. +
“And what’s in it for me?” Namjoon asked. “I am more than willing to help, but I see only how this benefits you.”

At this Jimin made a noise something between a squeak and a cough and Namjoon looked up in time to see a pretty blush cover his face before he ducked his head. +
“Well,” Jimin mumbled, “me? I really enjoyed talking to you by letter and hoped maybe you would want to continue getting to know each other in person.”

His voice had faded to almost a whisper and now Namjoon was sporting a matching blush, almost as deep as Jimins own. +
“I - yes. Yes, that would, yes.” Namjoon fumbled. “I would like that very much.”

Jimin sighed in relief and sent a gorgeous smile towards Namjoon. His breath taken once more, Namjoon almost forgot the other questions he had until the young lady giggled at their awkwardness. +
“I - well sorry.” Namjoon breathed out, mind racing to keep up with the life changing agreement he was making, “but I do have a few questions though.”

The young lady nodded as this was to be expected, “ask away” she said, motioning with her hand now clasped with her lovers. +
“What if we are requested to have children? I know my father expects a steady stream of heirs.”

“You are the fourth son, no? Surely your elder brothers can provide your fathers wishes of heirs, and besides, you never mentioned the desire to father your own children +
in the letters.” The young lady reasoned. “As you spoke of in your letters, there are plenty of children in need we can foster, and if we move far enough from society, we can live as separate families with adopted children to raise and care for.” +
Namjoon nodded at this, he had always had the desire to become a father yet never wished to put himself through the physical act needed to become one.

His thoughts were interrupted by Seokjin tapping him on the shoulder. “Surely the logistics can be kept for another time, +
the ladies must be tired from the journey, I can show them to their rooms now.”

Seokjin gestured towards a wing of the house and let the ladies follow him. Yoongi passed Namjoon with a quick nudge and a wink and he realised Jins true plan. +
As he turned back towards the wooden table, he caught Jimins eye and held out his hand for the other to take.

With the first contact to Jimins smaller soft hand, Namjoon had to suppress a shiver. Just looking down at how his own hand dwarfed Jimins, Namjoon could feel +
his repressed obsession with size difference rearing its head.

Gently leading Jimin towards his own quarters, and once in privacy Namjoon asked another question that had been stuck in his mind for a while.

“So do you really prefer reading narrative prose over fiction?” +
Jimin threw back his head and laughed, a beautiful sound that had Namjoon’s heart soaring. Jimin clutched at Namjoon’s sleeve in an attempt to tighten himself but dissolved into another fit of giggles.

Whatever Namjoon had expected to come to pass today, certainly had not +
but he couldn’t find himself to be anything but thankful at the universe for delivering the beautiful man in his arms to him, already feeling the blossoming of a long and fulfilling lifetime of love and happiness begin between the two.

- the end.

Thinking about an OT7 x Jimin au where O!JM pretends to be a beta to join the university tennis team, knowing he wouldn’t get accepted in as an omega, no matter how good he is at tennis. He makes his way up the ranks to the main team in his second year with 6 other alphas. +
3rd years NJ, SJ, YG, HS and 2nd years TH & JK all adore the spitfire beta in their team. The seamless teamwork when playing doubles and the the frightening serves when on the other side of the net all point to a well seasoned team player, something that every athlete admires. +
Except, for some reason, their alphas just can’t settle down when the beta trips on the court and grazes his knee, or when a return goes long in training and accidentally hits the beta or when said beta runs out of water and all alphas are more than willing to spare theirs. +
