Long thread 1) I think most adult physicians and public health professionals have made the obvious mistake of not giving space to pediatricians while deciding about the messaging of Covid in kids,that has caused problems ctd )@LCKScotland , @LCKIreland, @LongCovidKids ,@LCKCanada
Ctd 2) So I will try and recap what the Pediatricians knew BEFORE the pandemic about Corona viruses. They knew that kids at highest risk were those who had a prior medical condition and they knew that newborns, premature and low birth weight kids were at high risk ctd )
Ctd5) while Kawasaki disease causes rashes in skin and mouth , skin peeling and fever in kids with Covid 19, it was known that 75% of Kawasaki disease patients had Corona viruses vs 4.5% on normal kids,not considered why???

Ctd 6) While we documented the acute disseminated brain disease in kids with Covid , it is painfully obvious that past experience was not given weightage , Lau etal published HCOV in csf of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis case and febrile seizures even before 2010.
Ctd 6) We knew this for fact that mouse hepatitis virus can cause demyelinating disease in brain due to interleukin, TNF and the virus has common features with Covid 19 , so there was always chance of demyelinating disease in kids and adults but we dismissed these
Ctd 8)The worst news is the risk of Multiple Sclerosis. For those who dont know it can cause vision loss , pain , fatigue and problems to do daily tasks . And here comes the most important part , covid 19 on kids can potentially cause this .ctd) mayoclinic.org/diseases-condi…
Ctd9) we knew this since 1992 that in a group of 11 MS patients whose brain autopsy was done 4 had Corona virus RNA , none of the 6 patients with other neurological diseases or 5 normal people that were studied had that Corona virus RNA ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
Ctd 10) It was also found that symptoms mimicking acute Multiple Sclerosis have been found in people suffering from Covid infection.The bigger question that we need to ask ourselves is DID WE MISS AN OPPORTUNITY OF STARTING PARALLEL PEDIATRIC VACCINE TRIALS ??
